i'm a student flute player, i've played for about 4 years now. i assumed the tone and quality wouldnt be great as its an instrument from amazon - but wow.i've played piccolo for a few months, and i wanted to get one so that i didn't have to keep borrowing from the school - as we have 2 piccolo players, and one piccolo. i don't have the funds to purchase a top of the line yamaha piccolo which is about 4x the cost, so i've been looking into cheaper options.honestly, the quality is incredible for the price. i went with the cheaper option - the nickel one, and it works great. the packaging is really nice, the case is super secure, though my only note is the body fits a little lose and awkwardly when putting it away in the case. other than that, i have no complaints.if you play in marching or in a school or local band, i'd say this is a great choice for you. the buttons are a little different from what i'm used to because they dip in rather than being a little flat and round, but that's something i need to get used to. i'm extremely pleased with the product.

What did I like?I liked the fact that after 20 minutes or so of playing, I could play clear, recognizable notes. I haven't played a wind instrument since high school and that was a clarinet. Though I was winded quickly, I found the sweet spot easily.I bought this to possibly use in Irish music in place of a penny whistle. I haven't changed my mind, but I know now that it is an instrument that will need some practice on my part.Controlling volume is an issue but I suspect that it has more to do with an inexperienced player than with the instrument. The case is solid and the accessories for cleaning, inside and out, are provided. The gloves, which I assume are there to limit hand oils tarnishing the piccolo, were much to small and unusable. The instrument itself is solid, well-built and easy to hold. The fingering chart provided was easy to use, though a bit tiny for any eyes that need correction. All in all, this piccolo is a solidly crafted, professional looking instrument.I've never played in a wind-based instrument band but I think this piccolo will stand up in most situations.

This is an absolutely excellent quality Piccolo for your money! I was happily surprised in the quality of the instrument itself, as well as the case and accessories! It has a very nice chrome-like finish to it, all of the pieces seem to work flawlessly and it has a very nice sound to it. The case is hard foam with molded spots to fit your piccolo, and a very large pocket that zippers up that easily fits all of your accessories in it. It comes with everything to keep it clean from inside and out. I would definitely recommend it as a first piccolo, and can be played well into advanced playing too, I'm sure. Trust me, Your wallet will appreciate it.

I've played flute for 15 years and this is my first time trying a piccolo - it's challenging but very fun. I'm still new to it but the sound quality seems quite good given how affordable the instrument is compared to most others. I recommend it for anybody wondering about the piccolo, for only $120 it's too good to pass up

I ordered this after trying an Eastar open-hole silver plated flute that seemed very reasonably made and played well. This must have come from a different factory, in spite of the same Eastar engraving. The intonation is unmanageable: try a cadence on A when the F# is 5 cents sharp and the G# is 30 cents flat! The tone holes were badly finished and sharp, which would probably make for a short lad life. A throwback to the bad old days of Chinese flute production twenty-five years ago, and most disappointing.

I was shocked to see the size of the like a toy, as big as the glove. Missing parts, the manual shows 3 parts, only 2 in the package. The cleaning stick missing. Returning it back.

I recently bought a Easter flute and thought it was an incredible value, so I decided to get the piccolo for my son for Christmas. The good:* It comes in a nicely lined case, the closing latches are smooth and case will definitely protect the instrument. You can see from the picture that the keys come open with little red rubber wedges to prevent the keys from getting damaged during shipping. That's good attention to detail. Some of the other reviews show a different (bigger? softer?) case. I think I like mine better.* The keys and springs operate smoothly, the pads appear to be of good quality and there is no air leakage around the keys.* The instrument plays beautifully. The sound was sweet and breathy, not as shrill as I feared. We never owned a piccolo before, so I can't compare to other instruments. I can only say that I am very happy with how it sounds.* It comes included with two cleaning cloths. The yellow chamois style can be used to wipe the exterior safely, and the blue one comes with a weighted ribbon to clean the inside. The weighted ribbon is a nice touch, but it also comes with a cleaning for for those who preferably that method for cleaning the inside. Very nice that no additional purchase is required to take care of your instrument. The not-so-perfect:* The cap at the top of the mouthpiece is no welded perfectly centered, as you can see from the picture. It's just cosmetic and doesn't affect the sound, but some may consider it a defect and ask for an exchange. I opted not to.* There is a little cardboard card insert in the package explaining fingerings of the different notes. Unfortunately that card is for a full size flute, which is the same fingering as the piccolo, but it shows the instrument being comprised of 3 pieces, whereas the piccolo only has 2 pieces. It could be confusing to some people, thinking their piccolo is missing a piece (you could also think from looking at the case that there should be 3 pieces). Most people buying a piccolo will have seen one before and not be concerned though.* Just like with the flute, it comes with white gloves, which is a nice touch, but are not big enough for my hands or my son's.In summary:There are two kinds of piccolo players: the "chairs" in their orchestra that are meant to be an expert at the instrument, and may choose to go with a brand-name semi-professional instrument, and there is the casual player, or the marching band player that need an instrument that will get the job done without breaking the bank, without investing too much in their instrument. This Eastar piccolo is perfect for this second type of player.I think few kids start with the piccolo, most start with a regular flute, but this would also be a great choice for a beginner (maybe with small hands). In my opinion, every flute player should also own and play a piccolo, and at this price, there is no reason not to!

I bought this for my 15yo daughter. She is currently a sophomore in the highest band at her school and plays the flute for a majority of the time. Starting in 8th grade, she would play the schools loaner Piccolo (Gemeinhardt) when it was available. In highschool, many of the flute players switch to Piccolo in marching/pep band since the high sound carries better. Recently, several of the school Piccolo's were damaged or in need of significant repair. Since she is an underclassman, naturally she gets lowest priority and was told she could no longer play Piccolo. She was devastated and this led me to search for a reasonable solution. I could rent a brand name Piccolo, buy one of the many China made versions that sell for cheap or spend $700+ to buy one (already spent $750 on the Yamaha flute). When she was learning the play the flute, I didn't want to gamble and have her get a bad instrument causing her to lose interest but as a second instrument, I decided to take the risk. I am BLOWN AWAY at the quality of this cheap instrument. Seems to be very well made and after a 30 minute break in period, the pads seal perfectly (I play the sax and checked them and regular intervals).Best of all she LOVES this Piccolo and says it plays and sounds better than the one she was borrowing from the school (resin Gemeinhardt). I did a fair amount of research on these and there are a few good youTube videos on this model that do it justice. If you are buying this as a starter instrument, I recommend starting with a brand name flute not a piccolo. Piccolo is harder to play and the fundamentals should be learned first. With a rental they will keep it in good repair if you use the annual service agreement. As a second instrument, this is perfect. As a marching/pep band instrument you can sleep knowing it is $100 max when a kid knocks it off the stands, especially the all metal version (it happens a lot). My daughter might only use this for 2 more years and if she continues into college a brand name might be in her future but for now, this purchase was absolutely worth the risk. Highly recommend.

Considering the low cost, this is an amazing instrument. My daughter normally plays a Yamaha YFL211S flute, and cheap Amazon flutes have NOT held a candle to that student model. But this is actually playable and consistent

My niece was struggling with a worn out instrument provided by the school. I got this for her hoping that it would at least play better than the one she had. She was super happy with this piccolo. She said it plays very well and looks and feels nice.
