This product was well packaged and it came with a network cable for seting up. As a technical person (network engineer) I had no issue identifying the three main ways to set this device up. I tried all three, and found only one method was successful. Unfortunately, even after having it connected wirelessly to our home modem/router it had trouble staying connected and when disconnected it only reconnected by itself once.For the record I made sure the router was not the issue, it did not drop any other devices. I also checked the firmware, and found it was a newer version than the one available one-Link’s website. I have had numerous D-Link products, and know them to produce reliable technology. This is a unique and unfortunate defective item, and I wouldn't recommend this particular model.

This wireless extender was easy to install as compare to others , however size is little bigger than normal. Signal strength is ok but not excellent.

I liked the easy setup steps, you do not need to be a genius to extend your wifi signal at home.It gave the same speed as the main router.

This is the most frustrating, difficult to set up unit I have ever had. You must first connect to it then start set up. You give it a name.. which it ignores and assigns another name when you pick the router you want to connect to. It will only connect to WPA2 routers... not WPA.. not WEP.. not open. It has a mind of its own. I try to use it while on our boat to enhance marina wifi to our boat but it completely refuses to do anything I ask. It will only accept my home router as it's WPA2 and set up properly. It's fussy, hard to use and in my mind a complete waste of time and money. If you want to extend your wifi at home it may work for you but if you intend to travel with it.. forget it. You must be sure the marina/RV Park etc wifi is set up perfectly to WPA2.. most are set up by morons so you're out of luck. Don't bother with this thing... it's too much of a problem and you'll be disappointed.

This is a refurb so possibly its defective. I previously bought the AX3000 model and it was fairly simple to setup and get working. The instructions on this AX1800 model appear to be similar but it doesnt want to connect to the starlink wifi, after i go thru the steps via the Dlink App it says "should have a green light" yet unit continues to blink yellow, its default wifi name changes but its like its not finishing the setup even after waiting several minutes. The "help" says to reset the unit and try again or move it closer to the wifi router (its 3 feet away i think thats probably more than close enough)
