Honestly, for its current price of about $20 my expectations weren't that high for this Newest wifi booster/range extender, but it really is a nice little unit. Remember that when they advertise this as a booster, it’s a signal strength booster it won’t give you any more speed. We have a whole home mesh system as we have a large bungalow and need lots of range and bandwidth. I’m adding this extender for the garage/workshopOnce it was set up I can get a very reasonable signal in the garage as you can see on the attached screenshot using an app that measures cell and wifi signal. I can even get a decent signal to an outdoor wireless security camera about 20 ft from the garage wall.To be honest I wasn’t able to figure out if this booster was picking up the main router in the basement and rebroadcasting the signal or linking to the closest mesh repeater. It doesn’t matter for my purposes, it just seems to work, and I see a difference in signal strength when this unit is plugged in.As other reviewers have pointed out (And I’m glad they did) the enclosed instructions are meant for an older version, and detail how to log into the IP address of your modem and fiddle with the settings to get your booster connected. This newer model just utilizes the WPS button on your router. Check the instructions on your particular router, but in my case it was press and hold the WPS on The Router for 30 seconds, then the WPS on the booster and wait for the indicator lights to let you know it has an internet connection. Pair the unit within a few feet of the router then move it to your preferred location. Super easy and in my case setup took a couple minutes.I didn't try it as an access point (AP mode) so I can’t evaluate that mode. For the price this seems like a bargain to me, I’ll update if issues crop up but for now it seems like a good buy.

It is ok Booster repeater. I setup mine in repeater mode, to boos signal in corner of the hous with weakes signal.It does what it is says. You have to understand what you need.Setup is pretty easy and simple over the phone. It does take a little bit of time when first time plugged int to come to life. Also i noticed that reset button is hard. but if you carefully press you will hear click. the reason is because oof location they made it hard click to avoid accidently reseting unit.Overall i am happy with extended range that unti provides. It is only 2.4g, and it works fine. Does not boost speed it just extends range in repeater mode. unit also have RJ connectior and i think if you plyg lan cable from your router you will get better speed.

Originally I was going to deduct one star from my review because of this... but shaking my head I thought I can't do this ... keep in mind the super low price for this product!!!*** B U T *** The one thing you have to keep in mind is WHAT THIS THING ACTUALLY IS AND DOES !Don't hope it to be a magic solution! That being said it does what it's supposed to quite well!It basically has TWO MODES:(1) WiFi repeater mode. After configuring it, you place this unit close to the edge of your current WiFi area, but it has to definitely be in a good position to pick up your current signal... so that it can "repeat" it. It cannot repeat your WiFi signal if it can't receive it (or transmit back to it). Then DO NOT expect super lightening speeds through this. You have to keep in mind it's a REPEATER. This means it receives the "packet" of data and then retransmits that packet of data. That is for signals going both ways. So your original WiFi will transmit some data, the repeater will receive it, and then retransmit it. You should now realize that it will take twice as long for you to receive that data.... and likewise to send something back. OK, WiFI signals typically are pretty fast anyway so in reality most of us will not realize that this is happening... but you will if you do something like a online speed test. Keep in mind that a repeater is giving you MORE range with little effort and little cost. Having set up this unit in REPEATER MODE, I have been able to watch online streaming video in our guest room where up until now it was not possible. Our "normal" WiFi access point is in the living room. The guest room is all the way at the opposite end of our home. I installed the repeater in the hallway about 3/4 of the way to the guest room. It has solved my coverage problem in our guest room!(2) The other mode that this can be used as is "ACCESS POINT MODE". Using the instructions, configure it for Access point mode. Then from your existing network (your internet modem, router etc.) run a network cable and plug it into the RJ-45 jack on its side. You now have another WiFi access point in your home... CONFUSED? OK here's an example. If you connect and run a network cable from your existing network into your garage and the plug it into this unit, you will now have a separate WiFi system in your garage... with a different SSID than the one you have inside. It of course is using the same data as your inside network. People need to know and understand that this is a WiFi repeater it extends your current network or creates a new access point for an existing network but it can not and will not make increase your bandwidth, meaning of you're buying this in the hopes of a faster Internet DON'T, that's not what it's for,However this does the job it's intended to do, I managed to get up and running quickly despite the instructions being not the greatest, It did exactly what I wanted and expected it to do, it simply extended my network a little further allowing my camers to get a %90-%100 signal strength as opposed to the %50max signal I was achieving before installation, to be honestI didn't try the access point (AP) mode, simply because I wanted and got it As a wireless repeater, and as such it does the job great.
