These electronic hearing protectors work amazingly. They muffle loud gunshots while allowing normal conversation with others nearby. They are solidly built and comfortable. I did not believe I could get such a professional grade product at this price. Highly recommended.

Complete junk. Broken after 2 range days. Out of the box the left earpiece already had a plastic rattle to it. Save your time and money. For the extra 70 bucks, get a pair of 3m peltor tac

These hearing protectors are both versatile and good quality.They work well well in their primary role as protection against loud sounds that would damage an unprotected human hearing system. This would include industrial noise and gunfire for example. In this role, they provide 20db of sound reduction. 30 db would have been "better", BUT that would require considerably thicker muffs, which would interfere with getting a proper hold (e.g. good cheek weld ) when firing a rifle. The 20db attentuation is therefor a reasonable design choice, and one that I for one INSIST on, as getting an optimal position on my rifle with other thicker muffs was impossible.In addition, these hearing protectors do something that not many others do: They actually AMPLIFY ambient sounds that are present, while still keeping them below a threshold that would damage hearing. For example, at a recent shooting range session, the sound of 2-stroke dirt motorcycles on the adjacent property were actually somewhat amplified, but to a non-damaging level. This is a VERY good design safety feature, as it enables the user to detect non-harmful sounds that might otherwise be missed. For example, these muffs are more likely for a user to be able to hear that someone is approaching them from a non-visible direction. So, again, this is a smart and advantageous design decision, and also reflects good software programming and control.These muffs also have an "auxiliary input" port. That allows a user to feed anelectronic stream of music, or other recordings, into the muffs while wearing them, thus adding communication and/or entertainment while wearing hearing protection. For example, in a boring repetitive work role in a loud industrial location, these muffs would enable a worker to play music, OR to hear recorded dialog, OR process instructions, while being protected from the environmental noise and its otherwise damaging effects.The combination on / off and volume controller wheel is smartly positioned in a way that makes accidentally turning the electronics "on" less likely. A more perfect design would have recessed the wheel within a surrounding barrier, but the actual design is already superior to some other muffs I have used or seen.Ideally, the battery compartment door could be a bit easier to use than it actually turned out to be. But it is still better than the door on some other electronic muffs I have used.These last two points are worth mentioning in case the design team has access to this review. But overall, I have to rate these muffs as being easily worthy of the 5-star rating, due to all the other superior features. They ARE noticeably superior to another pair of electronic hearing protectors that I own, and vastly superior to an older set I also own (which proved to be way too thick for actual use with a rifle).These are worth buying.
