Amazon.ca Product Description

The art of hand soldering has been around for a very, very long time, thousands of years in fact. But it was only until 1941 that a transformer based instant heating soldering method was developed by an impatient American radio repairman who was tired of sitting around waiting for his soldering gun to heat up. Carl E. Weller had to wait until after WWII ended in 1945 to get his Weller Manufacturing Company going. In 1960, the Weller Manufacturing Co. in the US patented the “Magnastat” soldering iron which used a magnetic component to regulate the temperature at the iron’s tip. In an expansion overseas beginning in 1959, the Weller GmbH plant in Besigheim, Germany, along with new plants in other countries, was organized to manufacture temperature controlled irons and soldering guns for primarily industrial markets throughout Europe and the Near East. Keeping pace with the increasing complexity of our customers’ needs, Weller Germany became the market leader for developing and manufacturing hand soldering products worldwide. Our products were proudly emblazoned with “Made in Germany”, signifying innovation and reliability.

From the Manufacturer

The Weller WSA350 is a bench top smoke absorber that removes flux fumes from a soldering workbench. Great for workspaces using more active fluxes used with lead-free solder. Fumes are absorbed by the replaceable carbon-activated filter - includes one replacement filter (WSA350F). Stand allows the smoke absorber to be adjusted to varying angles. Fan is quiet and will not add significant noise to the workspace. ESD safe.

I was sick of feeling woozy after soldering sessions and debated between some no name models for a while before settling on Weller. Overall this did exactly what I expected and I'm glad I paid a bit more: long soldering sessions are no longer a literal headache. The unit is bigger than I expected: it's 10" tall, and the filter area is 5" x 5". The cord is 3-pronged (grounded for ESD?) and in the parlance of a popular Youtuber - skookum as frig and fairly long and surprisingly flexible. The fan has a single speed controlled by on/off switch. In operation it's neither quiet or loud - you'll notice it is on but it's not loud or annoying. It draws decent amount of air but you've got to keep it positioned ~6-8" from your work for maximum effectiveness. The fan has a wide base for stability and you can tilt it from vertical to almost horizontal and the position is held by two knobs that provide friction resistance. There's a carbon filter area and 3 filters are included.

Great quality smoke absorber. I cannot smell any fumes while soldering together with his unit. Highly recommend this brand

Wish it had a bit more power for the amount of noise it makes, but it does the job of keeping the fumes from stained glass work to a minimum.

It's very effective (but needs to be very close to your work). It's not that loud, when I'm working on my tech bench the sound of the fan does not bother me that much. Warning : It's really bigger than the picture suggest, so you should check the dimensions before ordering. But even though the fan is really big, the design makes it that it doesn't take that much space on my tech bench.Pros:- Very effective- Nice design- Easy to operate- Integrated handle for transportCons:- Could be more powerful (you need to place the fan very close to your work)- Only one speed (ONOFF switch)- Very thick and stiff 3-prong power cord (why? the fans only consumes 20 watts)The is not a perfect product. But if you compare it to the competition, I think it's the best you can buy in that price range. I'm very happy with my purchase and I strongly recommend it to you.

Does the job. Perfect material quality and condition. Comes with extra filters if you ever need a replacement. I would lower the price.

Pretty loud for a single fan. Doesn't move very much air, you need to be within 2-3 inches for it to draw in the fumes. Computer fans move a lot more air and a lot more quietly than this unit does.It just does what it is supposed to do, but only just.Comes with two spare filters.

Acheté pour le vitrail ainsi que pour de petits projets d’électronique! Pas trop bruyant et pas trop gros, bref juste parfait!

I was looking for a smoke absorber for some soldering I was doing. This device is simple to use, not too loud , and I have a lot of confidence in the Weller brand. It came with an extra filer as well which was nice. Great purchase.

This is a great little unit for the money! While someone who solders every day/all day (or with lead-free solder, which creates more fumes) will probably want something more powerful/bigger than this, this extractor does a fine job of sucking up flux fumes for hobby use or occasional soldering, which is more my application (I'm a soldering novice who bought it for audio electronics work). I'm not working in the most well ventilated room, and this thing does just fine keeping the air clean. It feels like a good quality, well made unit with a bit of heft to it. It's not terribly loud, but not exactly quiet either. You do need to have it fairly close to what you're soldering for it to suck up all the fumes - it won't work as well from several feet away (it also helps to point the fan inlet directly at what you're working on). So it's fine for things from quick and simple jobs up to component replacement on a smaller to medium sized PCB board.I'd say in the grand scheme of things, it's probably a 4/5 score - but I'm rounding up to 5 due to being a good value for the money IMO. Just be realistic about what a tabletop unit like this can do and you won't be disappointed.

para desoldar electrónica cumple muy bien, es cierto se debe tener cerca pero si extrae correctamente y entiendo que la gente quiere que haga maravillas pero yo estoy contento de no usar nada esto es mejor.
