Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters - The Luckiest Man (Stony Plain)Released in 2017, blue guitar master Ronnie Earl’s earliest releases date back to the early 1980s. His style is a gentle electric sound, not flashy but delicately placing just the right notes and occasional riffs just where they give the piece the best emotion. He reminds me of Jerry Garcia in that regard. Like Garcia, his guitar fills the gaps with pristine observations of the musical kind and doesn’t go too far overboard, filling in the gaps with gentle waterfalls of sonic mastery.With full time vocalist Diane Blue, and boasting one of the finest blues keyboard men n the business, Dave Limina; there are about equal numbers of instrumentals to vocal pieces and mostly covers with only four original Earl compositions.Blue has a deep throated but clean vocal style, which works especially well on “So Many Roads, the gospel flavored “Never Gonna Break My Faith” and Gary Davis’s “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” (presenting an electric alternative to Hot Tuna’s majestic acoustic version).As is his wont, Earl gives us our money’s worth with over 70 minutes of some of the finest ad back electric blues one could ever hope to hear. With over 25 records to his name, and most of them n my collection, he never fails to satisfy.(5 stars out of 5)MC Mahan

Zu diesem Album bin ich quasi wie die Jungfrau zum Kind gekommen. In einem High-End Forum wurde ich auf Lautsprecherfüße aufmerksam, die durch Entkopplung den Klang verbessern sollen. Also machte ich mich bei YouTube auf die Suche und fand tatsächlich A/B Vergleiche. Die dort verwendeten Demostücke haben mich sofort mehr elektrisiert, als das Produkt um das es ging. Eines dieser Alben liegt hier vor und wurde von mir sofort bestellt; Gestern Abend geliefert und gleich angehört. Von vorn bis hinten ist das Album allererste Sahne. Beste Aufnahmequalität zaubert Musiker mit hörbarer Spielfreude in den Hörraum. Mit diesem Zufallsfund bin ich selbst "The Luckiest Man".

Uno de los mejores álbumes de Ronnie Earl de los últimos años y, además especialmente significativo tras el óbito de su fiel y gran bajista Jim Mouradian aqui reemplazado por un antiguo Broadcaster, Michael "Mudcat" Ward. Todo el álbum discurre por los caminos con una elegancia y fluidez difíciles de describir y con la adición de un tema de Fenton Robinson, el oscuro creador del gran tema Loan Me A Dime

Another masterclass from sir Ronnie of Earl. Surely one of the most underrated guitarist there has ever been. A lot of folk favour the instrumentals which are outstanding, ‘Howlin’ Blues’ is just immense but the tracks where Dianne Blue sings such as ‘Never gonna break my faith’ complement no, add to this this album so well.
