Bought this to do a tree limbing job. Out of the box impressed by how sturdy it is, the extension is easy to use and also built well, assembly was as expected , have had gas and electric saws before, limbed a large tree, cuts were easy and performed better than expected, cut branches up to 4 inch diameter only. Once limbed, got out the gas saw for the 6 and 8 inch large branches and stumps. The chain jumped the bar 3 times in the hour or so I used the saw,... working through the adjustment process a bit, not concerned as was easy to put chain back on and expect this is a learning curve thingFor the price, it already has made its 150 cost back, vs an arborist being hired, , second Sun Joy purchase (tiller) , they exceed expectations in my books update sept 2024. Still love it, zero issues still, takes about an hour of use before the chain jumps, which my experience with chain saws is outstanding, redoing the chain is less fiddly than other brands, does not leak chain oil all over the place, an issue with every previous saw, still love it!

I would have given the saw a 5 star rating except I had to send the first saw back because the bar oil would not leave the reservoir and go on the chain after using the saw for 15 minutes. The second saw had to be rotated into various positions before the oil pump actually put oil on the chain. It is working fine now. The saw works great. It is light weight and has a good reach. Most of the one star ratings are based on people with little to no chainsaw experience. Read the manual. Yes, the saw will leak oil if the reservoir is full and left for a long period of time. The manual warns you about this. Almost all chainsaws leak bar oil when left sitting. The chain should be tighten after using it for a short period of time, as ALL chains stretch when new. Again, all the potential issues are covered in the manual. Read the manual. The unit is quite rugged and well designed. You will need to buy chainsaw bar oil, as it does not come with the saw. Looks to be excellent value for the money.

Used once last year and very impressed with the tilting head option.A little heavy when fully extended but the weight helps the cutting actions.

Read quite a few reviews of the "best pole saws" and this model kept coming out on top so I decided to give it a try. The price was great compared to the other saws and it works great! It has enough power, is easy to use and makes branch pruning a breeze. Glad I bought it. I would actually pay more for it now that I have used it.

This has to be the best saw that I ever owned. I have gas powered chainsaws that I have used for over 30 years and this was something that I was a little reluctant to buy, when the package arrived yesterday I assembled it in about 12 minutes . Put the chainsaw oil in it ( same oil I use for my gas saws ) and plugged it in and started cutting. I was so easy to use compared to other as saws I used. Light weight and love the extension to reach height limbs. Couldn’t do what I did using a gas saw unless I had ladders. I was impressed as I cut branches as I could stay back from them falling over me unlike my gas saws. The best part, my wife can operate it as well, she never touched the gas powered saws.Thank you

Great product for occasional pruning around my yard. THANKS to all who mentioned CHAIN OIL in their reviews!!! Read on for my story: I'm very handy, done everything from woodworking, gardening, home reno, electrical, car repair etc. However, I always hired out the pruning of trees and hedges in my yard. I decided to roll the dice on this pole chain saw and give the trees a go this fall. Saved a ton of money and the product worked very well. A little heavy but i'm only using if for 10-30 min. The only issue, hence only 4 stars, are the instructions with regards to the chain oil. You do have to buy your own chain oil ($5 at hardware store) which in of itself is a bit of a pain, but you could easily miss this step and RUIN your saw right out of the gate because there is hardly a mention of it in the instructions. For such a vital step, there should at least be a diagram showing a bottle pouring into the outlet to alert owners. Yes, there is a tag attached to the saw on the oil cap, but if that isn't there or has fallen off... I almost missed this step, the irony being that I do so much handy work I often go with quick set-up instructions (which they had, no mention of oil)! Yet having operated many types of saws, I never held a chain saw in my life and chain oil didn't occur to me. Reading posted reviews of this product literally saved me! Please change instructions, add diagram. Otherwise great product.

Pros...1. POWER from a corded pole saw is awesome compared to 18V and 20V battery ones.2. CHAIN OIL RESERVOIR providing automatic chain oiling wasn't available on my previous battery powered saws which required manual piling... What a pain3. ADJUSTABLE HEAD ANGLE is a real perk as you want the blade as perpendicular as possible to the limb.4. SPEED ... This guy cuts through a 6 inch limbs in seconds ... A mere fraction of the time required for a battery powered pole saw.5. WEIGHT ... At under 8 pounds is lighter than the competition.6..PARTS AVAILABILITY ... BAR, CHAIN etc. are all available if replacement is required.Cons...1. NOT AS PORTABLE as a battery powered pole saw (and that's the only reason I didn't throw out my old one...lol)

I have not used this pole saw on any big job yet. I have two hedge trimmer Makita and Black and Decker. They are good on small branches but not big ones. I was thinking it will work well on big branches but it did not. All the time chain was going off. No matter how tight the chain is. Over two inch branches of the tree it cuts very well but not good for less than two inches. My neighbours has some big trees. So I will keep this pole saw if I need to cut any branches come to my yard.

Sun Joe makes this model in multiple colors but this purple & pink fairy princess model is $15 cheaper than the others and since 15 bucks is 15 bucks I got this one. Sure, it's not the most heavy-duty chain saw but it worked perfectly and saved me hundreds of dollars by allowing me to take down an old, leaning apple tree in my backyard without risking life and limb by climbing on something. It's super-easy to set up with clear, well-written instructions (if you need them - this is a chainsaw, it's not rocket science). The chain that came with mine was very sharp out of the box. I easily cut through 8 inch limbs and even got through one that was bigger in diameter than the length of the bar by cutting one side and then the other. My only criticism is that I wish the pole was a foot longer but it is what it is.For the geniuses that gave this one star because it didn't come with bar/chain oil and they didn't know it needed it... maybe you shouldn't be playing with chainsaws if you are unfamiliar with how a chainsaw works. For me this was well worth the price even if I never use it again cause it saved me the $300 the tree guy wanted.

I heat my home with self-cut firewood. This SunJoe pole saw has saved me time, effort, and money. It has more than paid for itself in less than one season.Cutting firewood is not cheap. Chains for gasoline saws are outrageously expensive these days. Then, there's the cost of fuel and chain oil. Plus, wear and tear on power saw. Additionally, have you ever climbed a ladder to cut an unwanted overhanging limb?...only to end up with a face full of foliage or injury? The SunJoe pole saw makes trimming limbs easy and safe.If you cut firewood, you know the hassle of dealing with the leftover branches and tree tops. I don't own a mulcher/shredder. Trimming small branches from the stalk can result in dangerous "stuttering" or kick back. It always wastes gas and oil, because you have to keep the power saw running while you reposition unwanted twigs for cutting. With the electric pole saw, I can easily trim the small branches from my fire wood. It costs less than twenty cents to make more than 300 cuts with the electric saw. Rarely will it take more than 10 seconds to make a cut.You can purchase three replacement electric saw chains for about the same price as ONE gas saw chain. In years past, I would salvage only the prime rounds of "splittable" wood to bring home; leaving the unused limbs to litter the forest floor. Now, I bundle up the limbs and drag them over to my saw buck for trimming with my SunJoe electric saw. (all my wood is cut from property accessible by my lawn tractor.)These smaller limbs have greatly added to my open fireplace efficiency in terms of kindling, as well as helping not-so-seasoned wood to reach ignition point.Initially, I bought the SunJoe electric pole saw to reduce shady areas on my newly seeded lawn. Since then, I have used it every time I harvest firewood. If you are within dragging distance of your sawbuck, bring those limbs home and use the electric saw. You won't regret it.The SunJoe electric pole saw is also a wonderful way to introduce your young kids or grandchildren about the fruits of labor. It is lightweight; and automatically shuts off when the trigger is released.I can't say this is the BEST pole saw on the market, because it is the first and only electric pole saw I've ever used. Nothing to compare. However, I have used a couple of electric chainsaws of standard design; and I wouldn't dare let a kid use them. This SunJoe electric pole saw gives a decent distance between blade and trigger for inexperienced hands. In closing, I want to remind you that chain oil has nothing to do with the type of saw engine. The SunJoe doesn't use as much oil per hour as a gas saw; it is not constantly running. But it does use the same amount per revolution. So, pay attention to reservoir levels. Purchase chain oil by the gallon to save a lot of money.

Not my first chainsaw, but rather my first pole saw. Overall, this pole saw worked great. Was able to easily trim the tree in my backyard with no serious issues. The only complaint I had was that the safety switch makes it hard to switch hands but it wasn’t a big deal. The overall weight is quite light (I expected heavier), but when fully extended it can be a little difficult to maneuver due to the weight all being on the far end. Even that wasn’t bad though, and kind of expected. Pretty much if you read and follow the instructions you won’t have any issues. To address some of the concerns that I saw in the negative reviews:-oil leaking: I have not noticed this at all. I rotated this every which way while using it and there was no sign of oil leaking during use. I store it laying down with the oil cap up, so I don’t know if there’s an issue with the orientation it’s stored in. I did note that the cord to keep the oil cap from falling could easily get caught in the cap threads, which could cause leaking.-chain falling off: I didn’t notice any chain slipping at all after about 2 hours of work. Make sure to follow the directions for installing and tightening and you should be fine.-Loose fitting saw: I can’t recall if this was one I saw where there were reviews about the saw end being loose and feeling like it would fall off, but regardless I did not experience this at all. Feels like solid construction, even when you adjust the angle. No “wobbling” whatsoever.

I have had this pole saw for 3 years. It cuts well and I have been able to cut a lot of branches that I wouldn't have been able to manage without this.It can be a bit heavy but not an issue if not at the edge of the extension. I weight is good to help keep the saw on what you are cutting. Never had much issue with kickback. I have a cordless pole saw that is lighter that kicks back a bit but the sun joe never has given me that issue. It is a true workhorse for a saw.2 main cons I have. The first is the bar oil does leak if you have it stored upright. Not a big deal for me, I fill it up each time I use it. The second issue is the end of life for the saw. The screw for the blade tightener stripped out and is now gone. I can no longer use the saw because without that one screw I can not tighten the blade. Would definitely have lasted longer had this not happen. I guess 3 years of use isn't too bad for the price.I would buy this pole saw if I was looking for a corded one. It is pretty powerful (more powerful than a cordless pole saw I have). It is very convenient and can power through just about anything you put it on.
