Seamless Connectivity with Dual-Band WiFi

Unlock the potential of your security system with the power of dual-band WiFi. Choose the robust 5GHz band for strong signal strength, enabling smooth and uninterrupted data flow. Also, switch to the 2.4GHz band for extended network coverage, ensuring every corner of your property stays connected.

  • When used with the compatible solar panel, 10 minutes of direct sunlight per day maintains continuous power, with a full 5-hour charge lasting up to 4 months.

  • Regrettably, this battery camera does not offer continuous recording capabilities due to the consideration of the battery life. You may consider Reolink's other non-battery powered cameras.

  • Reolink cameras do not support deleting specific video clips stored on the Micro SD card via their software. You can physically remove the card and delete footage on a computer.

  • This camera only facilitates remote access and live viewing through the Reolink App/Client. Support for RTSP and NAS integration is available by utilizing the Reolink Home Hub, with no subscription fees.

  • When not utilizing the solar panel, this camera only supports charging via a USB Type-A to USB Type-C connection cable.

After much research, I decided to purchase two Reolink Argus PT security cameras for our house…one for the front yard, and one for the backyard. This was a good investment for our home, as there have been a few break-ins in our neighborhood over the past several months.Where the cameras are located, they’re in plain view of anyone coming up to the house, so there might be less of a chance for our home to be targeted. Also, anyone would need a ladder in order to access them, as both of them are positioned pretty high up on the house. So I don’t worry much about them being removed or disabled. I’ve had no issues at all with the mounting brackets.I chose the Reolink Argus PT cameras for several reasons. First, the cameras are wireless, and I didn’t want to be bothered with trying to figure out how to get wires from two cameras on the outside of our house to any connections needed on the inside of our home.Having the cameras on Wi-Fi has worked well for us. Unfortunately, these cameras don’t work with a 5.0 GHz network, as they only connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. So, after downloading the app onto my cell phone, I ended up having to contact my Internet provider to help set-up my dual modem/router so it would connect to the 2.4 GHz bandwidth. I do wish, however, that the cameras would work for both 2.4 GHz as well as 5.0 GHz, because I have to make sure that my cell phone is always connected to the 2.4 GHz band when I check the cameras. Also, in order to have my Wi-Fi signal strong enough to connect to the cameras, I had to move my dual-band modem/router out of our basement rec room, where I have my desk top computer, and I put it upstairs into the living room on the main floor. This turned out to be an easy fix for me…I fished a shielded 25-ft Ethernet extension cable through a cold-air duct, and I was then able to relocate the modem/router. I used a shielded cable because I was putting it through a metal return-air duct.My second reason for choosing these cameras is that this particular package included solar panels for power. Since my husband and I are seniors, we didn’t want to climb ladders every so often in order to change batteries. We’ll see how long these batteries last in a Canadian winter, as they can’t be replaced. However, we live in a warmer part of Canada, so I thought this would be a safe choice. See my comments below for more information on the solar panels.Thirdly, I didn’t want to have to pay monthly cloud storage fees in order to view any recorded events. On the Reolink Argus PT cameras, the events are downloaded onto micro SD cards that are located in each camera. To me, this is a bonus. Although the micro-SD cards were not included with the cameras, I found a great deal on Amazon for a pair that were authentic, and not fakes. When the SD cards get full, the camera automatically over-writes old events.Fourthly, I liked the wide-angle view and the pan-and-tilt features of these particular cameras.Fifthly, the night vision is a plus, and the clarity of the recordings is very good. I have both cameras on black-and-white for night vision, as I find that a street light in our front yard and an outside garage light often makes it more difficult to have a great play-back picture for night recordings. There is a notification feature that will ding my cell phone when an event is recorded, and there is a siren that I can choose to have ON or OFF. Although I have turned off the siren, I can see where this could be a beneficial feature for lots of people.Other features I like: It’s also been useful to have the audio/talk feature: For example, I can talk to delivery people when packages are being dropped off at our front door. And, when I was dog-sitting at my son’s house, which is 3 hours away from our home, I was able to talk to my husband when he was sitting on our front porch at home! I could see him, and talk with him, when I wasn’t at home. It is, however, a little spooky if a person isn’t expecting a voice to start talking! There is a slight delay in the audio, but nothing that’s major to me.The camera in the back of the house has a very good view, and a wide view, of most of our backyard. It also covers the area of our deck, our back door, and our pool. And, the placement of the solar panel for this camera allows the panel to get the full effect of the south sun. Since the solar panel faces south, this particular battery is always 100% full! It was very easy to install. The camera on the front porch also has a good view of the driveway, the front door and the garage door, and most of our front yard. I’m still tweaking the angle and tilt. Our front porch is supported by four large posts, and at first, I had originally located the camera on the post that is located at the furthest end of the porch. This was a mistake, as the camera had too much of a street and yard view, and not a close-enough view of our driveway and front porch. And, the camera kept catching my husband’s movement when he sat outside on the porch to read. I re-positioned the camera to another post, which made for a better view of our whole property. The battery on the front porch camera is also always at 100%, even though the solar panel is located on the west side of the house. There is quite a long cord included with the solar panel, which allowed me to locate the panel a good distance from the camera. I was able to hide the cord inside the trim of aluminum siding. So far, the batteries for both cameras are always 100% charged, even after several cloudy and rainy days in a row. Our Canadian winter snow has now started, and I still get 100% battery power with the solar panels on both cameras, even when the skies are cloudy. I’ve been very impressed with this!I like the option of being able to turn off the recording during certain times of the day. This scheduling feature has come in handy for us. For example, my husband recently had knee replacement surgery, and he’s spent a lot of time during over the last few months sitting on the front porch and on the deck in the backyard. I was able to schedule both cameras to be off during the periods of time that he was most often sitting outside. Therefore, the cameras didn’t get triggered when he was sitting on the front porch, or on the backyard deck. I can also set the sensitivity rating for both cameras so that animals [like resident racoons or neighborhood cats] don’t trigger a recording. The one annoying glitch I’ve found is that sometimes my cell phone app doesn’t open one particular camera or the other. I’ll sometimes get a FAILED CONNECTION notice. I really don’t know why this happens, as I have a good Wi-Fi connection, and I’m on the 2.4 GHz network. When this happens, I either tap on another area of the app, or I just close out the app and try again. Although this is annoying, the connection always ends up working after one or two tries. So far, I’m very, very pleased with these security cameras, and I’d highly recommend them.

The only problem was to figure out how to connect it, not as easy to a Android phone as it sounded in instructions. Got it figured out and it works great so far.

The idea of a solar-powered camera is great in theory, but the execution is deeply flawed. It’s extremely misleading to hide the fact that the solar panel only works at temperatures of 0°C or above. For a product marketed to Canadian customers, where winter temperatures often drop well below zero, this limitation renders the solar feature almost useless for a significant portion of the year.Even on sunny days, if the temperature is below 0°C, the battery won’t charge regardless of how much sunlight the solar panel receives. This is a major oversight for a product intended for outdoor use in colder climates.Expecting users to take down the camera from its mounted height during winter, manually charge it via DC, and reinstall it is both impractical and frustrating. This completely defeats the purpose of having a “low-maintenance” solar-powered camera. If you’re looking for a reliable year-round solution for colder climates, I’d recommend steering clear of this product.

The camera installed easily with the reolink app and is easily controlled and great image... The solar panel works great to keep it charged, but as they point out, you cannot access the camera via an ip address - only through their app. So you cannot use camera this with a NVR or DVR or any other camera monitoring software (eg Blue Iris will not work). Support was good when I tried to get info on this issue (answered within a couple of hours,) and confirmed as follows in this direct paste from their email : "Thank you for your reply and sorry for the trouble we had brought to you.Except Argus; Argus 2; Argus Eco; Argus Pro; Argus PT; Argus 3, Reolink Keen; Reolink Go; Reolink Go PT, all other cameras of ours support relevant IP service."If this doesn't matter to you, it's a fantastic camera as their app is very good, reliable, and easy to use.

Bought because it will connect to my 5ghz wifi and is solar/battery. Build quality is good. Image quality is good. Motion detection is unreliable - at max sensitivity you can jump around in front of it and it won't record. Reboot it and things seem fine again (until the next time).

We started with one of these cameras to monitor cattle approaching their calving dates. Checking for animals in labour to catch problems early is a life saver. Checking usually involves a lot of getting up in the night and not wandering far from home in the day. We can now check with the cell phone from anywhere at any time.We now have six of these cameras. Three to monitor the cattle and three to monitor the sheep. The cameras work well in the dark but not so well when it snows, when there's freezing rain, or even in heavy rain.I had to set up a wide area 5 GHz Wi-Fi network to cover the barn yards but that wasn't difficult. The cameras work very well. I truned off all the alarms and security features - they just consusme battery energy. I thought not having an analogue zoom capability would be a problem but the 4K resolution is more than enough to monitor the animals in the field. The 2K version is less expensive and works well in the barns.Overall this has been a fantastic time and sleep saver!

Great cameras but the solar panels get covered in snow in the winter and they die pretty quick without the panels

This is the Reolink Ultra PT battery security camera. I also purchased the additional solar panel to enable recharging of the battery that is not removable. The camera has high quality colour and or black and white footage and operates based on sensor when motion is detected and is not constantly recording. Features too many to name but the handy Reolink app allows all sorts of settings and recordings to be viewed remotely on iPad or iPhone or Android devices after initial set up which again is relatively straight forward. You can also apply “mask” to the app so you are not viewing neighbours windows on houses or other areas. No subscription or ongoing fees to use app. The battery life before recharging will vary dependant on use and viewing currently mine has lasted 4 weeks on one charge (limited daily viewing) Battery cannot be removed for charging and a usb cable can either be connected to the solar panel (additional cost or by connecting to a powerbank. If you can’t be bothered with charging purchase the wired option and have it connected to power source. The advantage of the battery option is it can be relocated without an electrician and if the mains power goes off during storm or other outage your battery operated reolinhk will still work. You can record to a micro sd card (additional purchase) to store footage if you don’t wish to purchase a full recording system. The slot in the camera is in a protected position on the device to avoid weather or quick removal by an intruder. The camera has an alarm, speaker to talk to persons at house , although this only picks up clear audio within a few metres of the camera. Also has strong lights for night time recording in colour The camera has a tool to lock the camera into the cradle to prevent it being easily removed by an intruder, it has two different attachments so can be installed under an eave or on a post or facia board of a building. It appears to be well built. There are many Reolink battery and hard wired cameras available and I would based on current use and experience purchase another or something similar or updated model within the Reolink range.Best advice before purchase is to make sure it will suit your own individual security requirements.

Unfortunately this camera while electronically and mechanically maybe sound it fails in delivering a sound windows base operating software as its with all Reolink Cameras. In the past I have used Reolink support but they really have not been of any help to me. The frustration of working with them is too much to bear. (At one occasion their fix changed all my picture extensions in my entire system". I am sure they are aware of the problems with their widows base software. Their IOS software also has some hiccups staying connected in WIFI mode continuously even though it shows highest WIFI signals at all times. As an experience engineer I was still willing to keep this camera but after a week I noticed that because the solar charger is inefficient and limited I probably have to charge the battery directly every two months. Unfortunately because the camera's USB port is connected to the solar unit which is hard wired at the solar end you have to go to the camera and disconnect the solar unit and connect a long USB charge cable to your charger. Because I just can't access the camera that easily I am therefore returning this unit.I am Updating my review based on response the I received from Reolink.Thank you for your response it is very hearth warming to see that as a company you care for customers. I do like your cameras because based on my experience they are well built and work well on IOS operating system. As I mentioned in my review, I was willing to keep the Argus PT camera because it provides the best overall video and picture. However, having to go up the ladder to replace the solar charging cable with a power charging cable was impossible for me. Presently I have two Reolink cameras.Again, thank you for your reply and I will edit my review based on your response to me.
