The unique Sorbothane urethane is a durable, resilient, polymer that provides outstanding vibration isolation and non-skid properties. Sorbothane isolators help absorb impact and noise and have excellent resistance to aging; they will not harden or crack over time. They feature a smooth, clean, black urethane surface. Use them on any audio and electronic equipment to prevent skipping and interference.
Caution: This product contains plasticizer which may cause minor discoloration to wood, plastic, composite and other materials following prolonged contact.

Great product to separate metal on metal contact, although must be used with its female counterpart to work-

Isolate It: Sorbothane Vibration Isolation Bushing 70 DuroI use these on projects such as attic fans to isolate / reduce the effects of any vibration. The mounting idea is simple -- e.g., for an attic fan, there should be no direct metal fan frame to wood support contact. I used to use regular rubber bushings for these jobs, but these Isolate-It products are better quality and softer, so they absorb more vibration. They are made in Ohio.Isolate it bushings & washers comes in three softness levels:- 30 is downright mushy soft- 50 is very soft- 70 is soft - e.g., you can easily squeeze one of these bushings to about 1/2 its normal thicknessI found the 70 level ideal for a fan mount. The bushings are only half of what's needed. You'll also need a package of the corresponding (in softness level) Isolate-It washers.Negatives: high price, and they may cause minor discoloration to wood, plastic, composite or other materials.

I love these except the high price, which I think is bordering on the absurd especially for these smaller pieces; the half-round stick-on things made of the same stuff are a pretty good value as bookshelf speaker feet, redneck isolators for your budget mini hifi setup with audiophile pretensions, but these grommet things are really pricey for what you get. They're small. These had better last literally forever, or I will be upset. However, they're pretty cool for what they are, aside from the sticker shock for a few bits of plastic, and if you need durable vibration-damping mounts, what else are you going to do? I'm using some of these to mount a custom subwoofer box into a VW bus in such a way as to not drive the flat sheetmetal into resonance any more than necessary. These mounts, along with some of the larger flat doughnuts, some FatMat, and a heavy sub box, ought to get a clean sound even in that difficult environment. And to be fair, you get twelve of them in the package. I'll mount my sub box and my glassblowing fan with these, and have some left over for a random project. But you have to buy the matching washers separately, which really begins to look like highway robbery. I guess I should just shut up about the price, as I bought these things and the washers too, thus proving that despite what I might say, I do feel that they're worth it. I just feel like they should be cheaper, for some reason. I guess I'm wrong, though, because they're not.As the other reviewer noted, 70 is pretty soft and rubbery, 50 is gummy bear. Haven't tried 30, but it must be downright gooey, and I haven't needed that yet. Watch the weight and don't overload these. The chemistry is weird, and can attack plastics, finishes, carpet, and who knows what else; beware.I'll post back with durability updates eventually, but if you need a vibration isolating mount, here they are. You pays your money and you takes your chances. No idea if these will even work on the frequencies I need, but it's something to try...
