Purpose for Product: We use a portable generator often where there are no means to groundit securely so we ordered this unit to accomplish that.Product Inspection: Steel-copper clad grounding rod with 6 ft 12awg copper connecting wire andinsulated clamp.Product Performance: Drove the rod into soft earth with ease and easily pulled out. There is onlyabout 13" actually in the earth. The wire is attached with a bolt to the rodwhich I did not find secure. If the wire cable is disturbed, such as beingstepped on, the contact surface being so small could be easily disruptedrendering the ground mute.Clipped the clamp on my generator which has a screw on contact, see photo. This would appear to be a very unsecure and unreliable connection.Summary: I will reconstruct all the connections with more reliable hardware that will provide areliable and secure contact. The moving of the generator creates circumstances that theconnections provided will most likely fail.I AM NOT AN Electrician-just respectful of electricity. Consult a qualified licensedelectrician before depending on this product.Update: We actually decided to scrap this thing and find another solution.

Most portable generators need an earth ground for safety and in order to allow GFCI sockets to properly work. I pounded this rod into the ground and left it there near my Power Meter. In the future during a power outage I should be able to just wheel the portable generator up to the ground rod and run a copper jumper wire. The generator already has a ground lug. I use a shoer length of #8 copper wire to hook the generator to the ground rod. The product description mentions #7 ground wire but I have never seen #7 wire. Common types would be 6 or 8.

Excellent! Works great for generator, as a safety ground, or for hooking your grounding sheets on your bed into the earth.

Great grounding solution for my portable generator. Grounding pin is easy to hammer into the ground, went in with ease and did not deform the eyelet. Eyelet makes it easy to pull up on to remove. Grounding wire included with spring loaded clip. I simply attached the included wire and then clipped to my generator. Really like this solution and will serve my needs well for years to come.
