This seems to be a normality with all Shop Fox/Woodstock hand tools. Up until now I ordered 3, and all 3 were either returned or replaced (Thanks to Amazon's amazing policy). I sincerely recommend you go elsewhere because the machining on almost all shop fox hand planes, are very very sub par with way too many (and often unfixable) flaws such as blade that is too wide, or not flush...etc. I received this one with a blade that is not flush with the cutting surface, and there is no way I can even dare trying to get such a steel blade at home without any heavy duty machinery....In normal circumstances I would say you get what you pay for, but in shop fox's case, you probably don't get much value at all :(Look elsewhere is my honest recommendation and if you can't afford a pricier brand, save up - it's worth it!

There seems no way to avoid the blade digging into the work piece and messing it up. The bottom of the blade is not flush, as another reviewer states, but it is angled down so that it digs in and keeps digging the more you push. Perhaps if one affixes a wedge to the front, or grinds a bevel on the flat bottom of the blade equal to the blade's "angle of attack" to try to neutralize this problem.Is there some other way of dealing with this problem that I don't know about? It seems this plane is designed specifically to never work under any circumstances.

Difficult to find routers at this price that actually work. Just be mindful that it is small, and unless you make and attach a base plate, it will not function. Blade needs to be sharpened for a finer cut, which is what any such tool would require. Am very happy with the purchase

Very small, with a jig I don't work anything bigger than 2.5 inches across (making half lap joints). Sole is hit or miss and may need adjusting but for price and what it is it was a decent buy and a go to in my arsenal for small joints. The sole on my unit was decent and produces clean even joints although could be a bit better. Cutter needs to be sharpened out of box and I sharpen it fairly often but again for the price this is expected. Handy and small. If there was a bigger version I would buy it. Depth stop is very simple obviously from pic.

Der Hobel ist für das letzte Finish filigraner Arbeiten, wie Stoppnuten ideal. Er ist schon im Auslieferungszustand ordentlich scharf. Hab ihn tatsächlich zunächst ohne nachschärfen eine Eeile zum ausprobieren eingesetzt. Ist schön klein und wird wohl neben meinem Blockhobel mit flachem Winkel mein zweiter ständiger Begleiter bei Holzarbeiten am Boot werden.
