I ordered a "used like new" bag from one of the sellers on amazon and cannot find a single defect anywhere, if they had put the bag into manufacturers original packing it would be hard to tell it is not new. Due to reading several reviews I was hesitant to buy this cover due to people saying it is bulky and heavy even though they have rated its performance as excellent. After receiving this item I am super happy with it. I was able to place my cheap 2lb coleman sleeping bag inside and after folding it length ways and rolling it from the end like packing any sleeping bag, both pieces together easily fit back into the original storage bag that came with the coleman. I haven't had a chance to take it camping yet but if this bag performs half as well as it feels and looks it should last me a lifetime and keep me warm and dry too. would recommend to anyone who enjoys camping, hunting and fishing and likes to stay comfortable doing it without the added weight and bulk of a tent.

Pros: large, tough, waterproof yet breathable, great zippers.Cons: doesn’t have bug mesh and needs tweaking to stay off my face.Great deal for bug free sites. 2.6 lbs.My shipment was 12 days past the latest posted delivery date (took about six weeks).

packs bulky but does what it is meant to do. used it in -35c with a snugpak softie 5 and polypro long johns for a week and it held up well even in the wind. I didn't get any moisture build up (kept my face to the open zipper.

I used this bag last weekend and it was awesome. On the first night I didn't use it and the temp went down to 7C. I froze my arse off that night. On night 2 I used this bag and it went to 1C and I was toasty as could be with the same exact setup plus the bag. It does create that extra needed level of insulation and warmth. Well worth the money.

I have spent many a night in the Army sleeping in one of these in all kinds of conditions, almost always in combination with my trusty poncho hootch. They do exactly what they are meant to do, and that is keep you warm and dry when sleeping in the field. The Goretex material is very thick and durable; in fact, these things are basically like armor for your sleeping bag. I have stumbled into many a PB at night and laid out my bivy to rack out only to wake up in the morning and find that I was sleeping on a bed of cacti or rocks, with myself and my gear no worse for wear. If you slip in your sleeping bad between the bivy and your sleeping bag you have a recipe for sleeping through the night, oblivious to the conditions outside your impervious goretex shell. In combination with a tarp or poncho, I dare say that you could weather all but the most extreme storms and weather conditions, given that your bag and pad are thermally up to the task. There is no better price vs. performance proposition in terms of emergency or heavy-use camping shelters. However, these things have one major drawback that makes them unsuitable for many recreational applications: they are heavy as #$%&. Weighing in at up to two and a half pounds, they have twice the cost in ounces of many civilian bivies WITH a tarp thrown in on top. If you want similar durability in a more reasonable weight class, be prepared to spend some cash.

Awesome bivy sack at a good price. I purchased this bivy two weeks ago and was a little worried about the condition. When it arived I gave it a good inspection and realized it looked to be brand new. I don't have the military sleep system, but I use the wiggy super light mummy bag and it fits perfectly. I like this bivy because it fits my therma rest light weight sleeping pad and my wiggy sleeping bag perfectly. Also has enough room to keep my deer rifle by my side and out of the elements. This is the perfect addition to my hunting pack. It's light weight, Packs up nice and small, very rugged, had good ventilation for a bivy and I can tell it's built to last. For the price you can't go wrong with this bivy. it may not be as light as some yuppie north face or pataguchie gear, but I can tell this one will out last any of the other bivy sacks out there. And at a fraction of the price.

I got this to use in October on a 3 day bicycle trip in Missouri. Instead of tents we all (3 of us) got these instead by the recommendation of my brother who had used this in downpours while working in Minisota at an at risk youth 30 day canoe trip on the Great Lakes for a few summers a few years ago. His testimony was that this bivy is on par with or better than very expensive systems and often he would be the only dry person come morning. I have a 17 degree bag and with this bivy slept comfortably in 10 degree weather even with a good wind. I was able to put my air mat in the bivy with me and the system worked like a charm. Mine has a very small hole in the top that I will repair with a gortex patch kit and didn't give me any problems at all (no rain). I got mine used in very good condition and don't even know if thy where aware of the hole and like I said, not too worried about it. Fantastic item for a great price. (My cousin got the same NICU with the whole sleep system so 2 bags to layer and the shell). All happy customers!

These were nice but they did come with some blemishes and a few glitches and like other reviewers have noted, they do need to air out after you get them.I got what I paid for and I'm good with that...Bags are a little too small to keep my Sea-to-Summit 1.2 lbs Trek down bag lofted which did cause some cold spots when I used these on a HST trek this past August. Temps dropped down into the mid-30's and if not for the down vest it would have been a tad uncomfortable. Since the sleeping bag was compressed, the usual gain of 3 -5 degrees of additional warmth one might get from these covers was completely negated.Toughed it out on the trip (5 days) and finally just used the bivy cover as an extra ground cloth and I actually stayed a bit warmer as the bag was able to loft better. By the time we got out of the high country, I was glad to not have to spend another night with this combination. My bag may have been a tad light, but that was the plan... TRAVEL LIGHT! I've used the Trek bag before in a tent situation in the same temperature ranges and not had the cold spots develop. Oh wellI think for quick bivy overnights in mid-40's and above, this would probably work well with most bags but be aware of the compression factor of your bag before you head out!

I'm an 0311 in the Marines who spends a good amount of his year outside. And in my job we are issued this little thing that civilians underestimate and usually dismiss.I'm talking about rain clouds. We go to ITX and cause (because we are the only common factor to attribute to this) record setting rainfall. Considering ITX takes place in the scorching Californian desert, thats quite impressive. The USMC is kind enough to issue us a bivy, buy you'd be lucky to spend five minutes in it without getting soaked through. All of our gear is made by the lowest bidder after all, because, you know. Marine Corps cares about you.It was miserable before, but now that I've used this bivy, I've noticed it has an awesome habit of never soaking through and being breathable enough so you don't wake up in a puddle of your own sweat, defeating the purpose. On top of that, it ways about the same as my issued bivy which comes in handy when I'm hiking out 100 lbs+ of gear, half of which will never leave my compression sack.As a person who literally gets paid to hate his life, I approve of this bivy because it causes me to have to work a little less hard for my paycheck.
