Walker's Game Ear, the shooting and hunting industry pioneer in hearing protection, introduces the Ultimate Power Muff with 5x hearing enhancement. The Ultimate Power Muff has two Hi Gain Omni directional microphones that enhance sound detection. They are frequency tuned for natural sound clarity. The recessed volume AFT (Adjustable Frequency Tuning) control knobs allow the user to tune the muff to the frequency position that best matches the user's hearing. The independent volume control permits the hunter the ability to dial each side of the muff to a comfortable sound level for each ear. The Ultimate Power Muff's sound activated compression circuit has a reaction time of 0.02 seconds and through the use of new sound dampening composite material it features an unmatched noise reduction rating of 27dB. The Ultimate Power Muff has a folding compact design, low profile ear cups and incorporates a comfortable headband with a metal frame for increased durability. Great cancellation, I use for indoor shooting especially. At my range the fan noise comes through as mild static over the speakers, but that's to be expected. Excellent product.

This Product Review is written by my husband who requested this Hearing Protection as a gift to replace "Peletor Sound-Trap" ear Muffs which he uses for shooting a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P in an indoor range. The Walkers Game Ear has a reaction time of 0.02 seconds and a noise reduction rating of 27dB. The Sound Protection is better on the Walkers Game Ear then the Peletor Sound-Trap. To insert the batteries in the Sound-Trap the Sealing Rings that are attached to each side of the Ear Muff must be removed. Changing batteries in the Sound Trap is very difficult and it is very easy to damage the Sealing Rings when removing them. This is a very poor design for a battery compartment in an Ear Muff. The Walkers Game Ear has a Battery Compartment on each side of the Ear Muff with a cover that can be easily removed without the need of removing the Sealing Rings. The Walkers also has significantly better amplification for hearing speech; which is a necessity when listening to a Range Officer speak during Qualification. The Walker Ear Muffs are slightly larger then the Peletor Sound-Trap. The slightly larger size is NOT uncomfortable over several hours of shooting at the Gun Range. Overall, if you are Law Enforcement; Border Services; or an Armoured Guard employee, the Walkers Game Ear GWP-XPMB are highly recommended over the Peletor Sound-Trap when shooting your handgun or shotgun during Range Qualification.

UPDATED REVIEW BELOW: Product seems fine, will be testing it this week. Product packaging was ripped open then taped poorly back together with scotch tape. Wtf is that aboutUpdate aug.12: loads of feedback in one channel, fit seems alright. New batteries didn't resolve issue. Will be looking for a different set. Feedback tied with sketchy packing, not good

These are great muffs. I use them at the indoor range only. Mutes my 357 Magnum rounds perfectly. Once I started shooting these rounds, others at the range started looking up at me bc the noise was so loud, I think many of them wear wearing lower rated muffs and seemed startled. Not with these muffs, it really mutes the noise, while allowing other noises (e.g. talking) to be crystal clear. You can hear others loading their rounds, shells drop on the floor, conversations greatly.I'm glad I got these. They seem to seal well with eye protection. I wear them on top of my baseball cap, and the seem to have room left for larger heads. They fold up really nice and compact as well, not taking up much space in my range bag.The only thing I found was that the frequency tuning didn't seem to do much for me. I don't really notice a difference when I tune them either direction. Not exactly sure what it's supposed to be doing. Description could be a bit better I guess.I like the fact that there are two volume knobs, one on each side. In case one ear works different than another, or depending on who's shooting what on either side of you, you can then control one side independently.I am going to buy a second one for my wife.

Pretty good for it's price range. Surprised it has just one AA batt for each side but I will see how it lasts. My radians have 3 batts each side with a lot higher adjustable volume if you want? The headband is comfortable with or without hat. But, these do reduce the gunshot decibels much better and seem pretty safe without ear plugs---which I hate (makes me feel like walking with underwear in my crack).......

Although I have not had a chance to use them yet, they seem just like my husbands. He has had his for years and loves them.
