Mechanics have to trace and diagnose what the root cause of an issue is. A scan tool is just pointing you in the general direction. Without proper diagnoses to get to the actual problem, many home mechanics waste time and money just removing and replacing parts only hoping to fix the problem.I have used several tools in the past to do this such as a multimeter, test lights and other made for this project gadgets ti get the job done. I have seen power probe tools in the past but often they were expensive or limited in application which kept me from getting one.I bought and tried this tool and I’m very happy with it. The kit comes in a storage box which is helpful to keep it all together. The kit seems to be well built with good solid connectors that look like they’ll work for more than a few uses.The probe itself has built in led lights facing the tip which come in handy in those dark spaces (often nighttime use and under the dash while twisted like a pretzel). The operating buttons are easy to get to. The TFT display is bright and clear, easy to read. There is also a speaker to give you tones to tell you what’s going on, in case stuff drops in your eyes (always happens).You have two options to connect to the battery in your vehicle which is a must. You have the standard large clips or a cigarette lighter plug. The cord for the probe itself is plenty long, but if you’re connected to the battery of your rig and need to get to the back or your trailer there is an additional 20ft extension cord in the box. Also in the kit which is rare in these days is an instruction manual to explain how to use the multiple functions. It is actually very good, easy to read in English and has several figures/diagrams for those who are sometimes challenged like myself.I have used the tool on a few different project vehicles around the house. I found it to be super helpful with making sure I have continuity, powering circuits after rewiring a rats nest, and finding broken connections in harnesses. I am very happy that I bought this kit, it will save me time and the amount of tools that I have to lug around when working on jobs.
