It holds the camera well as intended. It took me a while to figure out how and where to set this up on my backpack (yes, I was bit lazy to find a video online). I've only been out with it for 5 times now, the outer surface started to scratch and wear - but this was expected. The real complaint is:1. There are 3 'levels' to clip and hold on the strap, but level 3 is too tight that it doesn't lock, and level 2 is little loose that it wiggles on the strap - makes it unstable and unreliable to put my camera. I had to put it somewhere else than where I wanted it to be.2. When camera is locked onto it, you have to press the button to release it. But with the camera on top of it, you have to dig in too much into the camera itself, the jacket, and the backpack straps to push this button. I wanted it to be a quick release slot where I can lock and release the camera quickly, but not really.I am now using it to put the camera when I know I won't be using it for at least 30+ minutes instead of putting it back to the backpack. The money spent on it doesn't seem to justify this use case.

This mount works well on most backpacks. Love it while hiking and having ready for wildlife and landscape photos.

I have recently picked up a handful of Ulanzi products for my cameras. The F38 mounts they sell all seem to be really good quality and secure the camera wonderfully when used properly. The only little gripe I have with this particular model is that the portion that mounts to the backpack strap is a little tight for the Ulanzi BP10 backpack that I bought it for. I was able to get it to work, but it seems a little strained...I will see how it holds up over time. All in all, I would still recommend this for use with the vast majority of camera backpacks.

This wiggled and wobbled and didn't keep the camera very snug. It also didn't fit my shoulder straps for my camera bag.
