Hardened high carbon, chromium containing low alloy steel has perfectly balanced properties for producing wood carving and cutting tools. It's a high strength, wear resistant steel, which keeps sharpening for a long time of use.

Sharp right out of the gate, the perfect gouge for creating depth for spoons or bowls. Just what I needed, and is great at it's job.

Yes, these are worth 35-40 each. I have a few big gouges like this, but this one is far superior to any of them. To find a better chisel you would probs have to go to Japan or Switzerland or something, but on Amazon these are the best available. They can shave you they are so sharp, and they stay shape a long time.My daughter scraped and hit this one. across concrete and rocks, once I sharpened it again it worked grea (so it's pretty durable).

Right out of the package, didn’t need to strop or correct anything, it cut smoothly and effortlessly. Left softer alder and harder black walnut smooth with no skips. Makes me want to buy more from this brand and seller
