It works great!I trained the squirrels with the lid taped open first. It helped them learn how the top opens. And I added a couple sticky pads (that you put on furniture legs so you don't scratch the floor) on the inside of the lid, so it doesn't clang when it closes.

I bought this feeder for my squirrels and it works very well. It was easy to screw onto my fence post and the adult squirrel knows how to lift the lid and climbs right into the feeder to get the peanuts or the corn. Her babies are not quite big enough yet to be able to do it but they will as they get bigger. I was surprised at how fast my adult figured it out. They are quite smart. They do not seem to be afraid of the sound of the the metal lid when it closes so that is a good thing.

Compact. Squirrels haven’t figured out how to lift the lid yet. Holds plenty of sunflower or peanuts.

For some reason, my squirrels can't figure out how to lift the lid. So I have to insert the plexiglass the other way to allow the peanuts to get out. That works but the problem is when the peanuts are low, they stay at the back of the bin and the squirrels can't get to them. A real waste of money!

I love this product. I installed it on my fence post in my back yard..some squirrels have figured out how to take the peanuts out without opening the lid ..and others have learned how to open the top. Its great because i used to throw them on my lawn..and then..i saw a rat come out and get one..ugh. So this product makes sure..the nuts are off the ground and save in a sealed(somewhat) container and the rodents cant get to them!!

Held up pretty good and I'm thinking the only reason there is a bit of wear and tear is because of the raccoon.
