Now I just got this in but I did test it for shrink tube labeling which is the sole reason for buying this heat gun. I wanted a battery operated Heat Gun and since this works with the 18V Makita Batteries which I already own it was an easy choice to make. The reviews on the Makita Heat Gun were not favorable and for the price of one Makita Heat Gun I could buy several of these. Before I ordered another one I did test it with the shrink label tubing I use for wire marking using the deflector shield and it did what it was supposed to do. I work on Injection Molding Machines and Robots so I am often high in the air where corded heat guns are always a problem which this battery operated heat gun resolves.The only thing that initially concerned me was the air flow from the unit but for my needs that air flow is sufficient. If you need something with a strong air flow this heat gun may not be for you but the next time I need to melt plastic off wires in a wire track inside of a mold I will try it out to see how well it works and compare it to the corded heat gun I typically use but I am not so sure it will work for that purpose or not.The reason for having two units is one for work the other for home as I like to have everything labeled with Heat Shrink Tube Labels to make troubleshooting easier for me down the road.

Really nice portable heat gun. The best part is it works on my already bought Makita batteries. If you have Makita batts buy this.

I don't use a heat gun a lot but I do some shrink wrapping and tube shrinking for making fishing lures and this unit works well for those tasks. It is reasonably ergonomic and its easy to use. The convenience of using a cordless unit cannot be overstated.It works well with my compatible Makita batteries and holds a charge well for sporadic use.The negatives of most cordless heat guns apply to this one as well. For solder applications this unit may not be hot enough and the air flow in general is not very strong. However and not recommend, this unit bailed me out as we had an ice storm and I couldn't open or unlock the door on my 20 year old Jeep. I was careful using it so as not to damage paint but I was able to de-ice the lock area and door seams easily and was able to get into the Jeep.Overall, this is a nice tool to have if you don't a lot of air volume or super high temperatures and its a lot less expensive than the Makita brand name version.
