Lighting can make or break a rooms mood. Sometimes it your mood that needs a little uplift.I use these bulbs seamlessly connects to my phone. I can change the colour and brightness to my hearts content. You can even configure some automation. I have mine to automatically turn on in the morning with an energetic lighting and turn off when I leave for work. Then it turns back on once I'm home with a more relaxed lighting. They are however quite expensive compared to their competitors.

I have around 60 Hue bulbs in my house. Imagine my disappointment after investing in the original bulbs finding out that they are only 800 lumens. This new bulb is 1600 LUMENS and you can tell.I have put this 1600 lumens bulb next to two 800 lumen bulbs and changed the colour to red only. You could visually tell the intensity of the light was roughly double or more the two individual 800 lumen (old hue bulbs) ones.Very satisfied with the bulb just the cost is hefty, quality is immaculate. We need a trade-in program for old bulbs and why in such a competitive market does a single bulb have to cost over $70.00? Could we not get a bundle pack of 1600 lumens instead of just the 1100 lumens?

While these are expensive they are worth it! I had them at my house and when we separated and sold the house I ended up inheriting the set of Hue bulbs so now using them at my apartment. When updating my kitchen to these from the one colour white versions of the 60w equivalent ones I chose a two-set of these 100w equivalent bulbs for the colour feature plus more light and was super happy with the result. With the high quality of Philips bulbs in general (no failures in many years) the purchase is an investment in the future and with the firmware upgrades available there is no future proofing to worry about.

It’s brighter than my previous hue bulbs, when it’s on the white or the sky blue. But set to a vivid colour, it’s actually not very bright.

I had problems connecting the following:> Philips Hue White and Colour Ambiance 16W Equivalent 100W A19 Base E26 LED Smart Bulb>> Google Wifi (not Nest Wifi)>> Actiontec T3200M modem routerThese were some of my steps in case someone has similar setup issues.I first connected the Phillips Bridge to the T3200M modem. The Phillips app didn't detect the Bridge because my phone is connected to the home network name of the Google Wifi.Once I changed my phone Wi-Fi network to the T3200M modem (Network name Telus1075), the Bridge was detected.I wanted my phone to remain on the Google Wi-Fi because I have three of them in a mesh for better coverage. Therefore, I tried to use the “Search with specific IP” option.> Manual Hue bridge IP> Enter your Hue bridge IP address belowOnline mentioned to go to your router settings, but the typical 192.168.1.1 wasn't working.Online then mentioned to run the ipconfig command. The default gateway mentioned a different IP address 192.168.1.254Entering that in the browser address bar allowed me to enter the Telus T3200M router settings. In the Home Network section, you can see> Philips-hue> Connected> 192.168.1.67> Full-DuplexEntering 192.168.1.67 as the Hue bridge IP allowed it to connect.I then wanted to try the Philips bulb on a desk lamp in the basement. However, it said no lights found. Or it would work for a bit before saying no lights found. In this area, the Wi-Fi was weaker.I tried the bulb on a different area of the basement that was a bit closer to the main router and modem, and it worked.I tried rearranging the Wi-Fi points, and I was able to make the Wi-Fi connection where the bulb failed a bit stronger. Using Internet on my phone was fine. However, the bulb still didn't work.Back upstairs where the modem and main Google Wi-Fi router was, I thought that maybe the Bridge had to be connected to the Google Wi-Fi router to take advantage of the Wi-Fi points and coverage in the basement.I connected the Bridge to the Google Wi-Fi router, but the bulb in the basement still didn't work.I then brought the Bridge to the basement, and connected it to one of the LAN ports double-edged arrow mark () of one of the Google Wi-Fi points, and that allowed the light bulb to work. One remaining question that I have is:If I had more Google Wi-Fi points, and the Wi-Fi connection strength was strong throughout, would the bulb work consistently?Or, does the Phillips Bridge have to be at a closer distance to the bulb. I'm only thinking this because the basement coverage and strength was still decent for mobile browsing. It was only from bringing the Bridge from upstairs to downstairs did the bulb work.

Use mine in a 60’s swag light that have a thick milky glass globe. As for the brightness, I have plenty of overhead so It can be dim for a cozy feeling or make it bright to illuminate the whole room (as I search for the remote I’ve dropped under the couch). Ease of operation via Bluetooth or Hue bridge when using the appropriate applications. I personally prefer the integration with my personal assistant (all major brand compatible: Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Home)Power consumption is reasonable for that type of bulb. It may be switched off (turn off light switch) if phantom power is a concern but remember to switch It back on before use. Highly recommended.
