Cleaner Oil Changes - This tool fits for Toyota 2.0L to 5.7L engines that use the cartridge style oil filter system. It makes the oil change process much cleaner by draining the filter housing prior to removal preventing oil spills.
Avoid The Mess - Simply screw the tool into the drain valve on the oil filter housing, then tighten the knurled nut to drain the housing. Once the housing is drained it can be removed to replace the filter without the usual mess.
How It Works
Step 1: Remove the 3/8" drive metal plug from the bottom of the oil filter housing to expose the drain valve.
Step 2: Make sure the knurled nut is backed off all the way (towards the silicone hose)
Step 3: Thread the oil drain tool into the threaded port that was exposed by removing the plug.
Step 4: Direct the end of the drain hose into your oil drain pan or container.
Step 5: Tighten the knurled portion of the tool which activates the spring loaded valve inside the oil filter housing.
Step 6: Once the housing is drained remove the tool and reinstall the metal drain valve plug.

Wrench works just fine but the drain tool did not thread into the filter of a gen3 Tacoma so be aware of that

10/5/2020: My husband changed the oil this time after years of taking it to the dealer. We ordered this kit to get the oil filter canister off as you need this part to remove the canister . The wrench had multiple slots that allow for more positioning over the canister. The drain tube fitting has a helpful valve you can close when you screw it in and then open it after securing, so no oil escapes. It is much better than the fitting you get free with the oil filter. Overall it worked great and the oil change was a success.

The wrench is nicely made and worked well, but the drain tool is completely worthless, despite being made of nice materials. Upon screwing the drain tool in completely, then opening ( i.e., screwing the collar in) the valve, absolutely nothing came out of the drain tube down the filter was full of oil. Just buy the wrench and don’t waste your money on this drain tool.
