This is a long term review as this was bought July 2018 and used dozens of times since.I wanted a different type of lock than our standard ' U ' lock as when my family bikes the U locks are heavy, cumbersome and very difficult to put 3 let alone 4 bikes together. Enter this cable lock.Master Lock is a tried and true brand and I'd be surprised if not most people around have not had one of their products during their life time. I had Master Lock rotary locks on school lockers decades ago! Since this is one of those go to brands I searched Amazon and I believe my search keywords were... " master lock cable " and this listing came up.Some general thoughts:True to as advertised this is a full 48" in length.We like the plastic vinyl wire jacket as it does not scratch the paint on our bikes.The four digit combination is easy for kids to remember when they take their bikes to school, it certainly works very well for my own son.The tumblers are easy to manipulate and not tough so it's easy even for young hands to lock and unlock.We've never had this fail and I even gave it a tough stress test as soon as we got it to ensure that when it is locked the tumblers lock down tight the key'd end.If there is a thief who wants something, nothing will stop them. If you need a Fort Knox type lock, then buy a Fort Knox type of lock.We've also had no issues regarding rust. This has been left outdoors many, many times during the rain as well as winter with zero issues resulting.Helpful, is how I hope you find my review

Works great. Sturdy, durable, easy to figure out. Only minor complaints are that the numbers are pretty picky so if you're like 1/5 of a turn between two numbers it won't open, and has to be on the combo # in order to close it which is mildly inconvenient.

This lock seemed great at first- a little stiff for the combination number area- but did it’s job- in fortunately the lock stopped working within a month- my son couldn’t unlock his bike at school ( still fused with the correct combination) and they had to cut the lock off the bike so he could come home-Turns out we got better value from the dollar store bike lock.

I'm a realtor and use these for my lock boxes. The true test will be in the winter. So far they are good and the price is fantastic. I've now ordered 15 of them. Previously I had ordered the bike locks with keys and the keys were breaking. This is a good replacement for my system. They arrived very quickly. Good seller!

For this thinness, you could buy one for $4 at Dollorama. Imagine there is a person who wanna cut your lock chain and he will cut it successfully for sure, would you prefer your lock chain to be $20 or $4? Personally I see no difference between this bike lock and those $4-8 at Dollarama.I believe you can chew then break this lock chain without using any tools...Set your budget higher, or buy the Dollarama lock, cause i rather my $4 lock got cut, than a $20 one but completely the same as $4.

Don't have high expectations for keeping your bike secure with this lock. It's a great option as a cheap lock to use on deterring someone from stealing a patio table off the sidewalk for instance, or to lock up your bike shortly while you are in the shop for 20 minutes. But I would never use this to lock my bike overnight on the street.Not too keen on the lock combination being preset and not changeable. But again, pretty low expectations for the price point.
