Unbelievable upgrade for my gardening. Functions as a one-handed lawn mower -- completely smooth cut, easy to handle, quiet and powerful.

This is a heavy-duty wide blade grass clipper as well as being heavier than the standard electric grass clippers. I use it with the long handle attachment and without sometimes. It has great battery life that contributes to the weight because of it. It works great either way for me my wife uses the standard electric grass clippers as this is kind of heavy for her liking.

I got this to do edging on my Zeon Zoysia grass. Can't comment on battery life since my yard is so small (Pros:- Lightweight- fairly quick (weed wacker is still faster)- Clean cuts = no brown grass like a weed wacker (as long as you're following the 1/3 blade height rule)- Super quietCons:- Need to go on your hand and knees to cut the grass- Hard to do edges that are next to a barrier such as a wall or brick edging- Weed wacker is still quicker

This tool is great, but… I am using the heck out of it and it is great! It is powerful enough to clip the grass and the Blue Rug Juniper that interfaces. Also, I do the same for the grass – Japanese Garden Juniper and the grass – euonymus interface. I have about 250 feet of black plastic landscape edging, also. Here is the small problem. I was using the long handle attachment with the unit and resting the unit on the bottom grass-catching attachment. I then just slide the unit along the 250 feed of edging! Takes only a few minutes! Well, took only a few minutes. The "ears" on the plastic grass-catching unit just broke off after three or four uses! OK, was sliding over plastic too much stress or was this particular part weak? Part 2: online Makita service refused to address the question other than to say I had to take it to an approved service center. Where is a service center? Not close. I called two service centers listed on the Makita web site closest to me and both had killed their service agreement with Makita. Each one used much stronger language. So, be reminded that this is a garden tool built by a company that really makes construction tools. That is, it is not a Stihl that promotes and serves its distributors. I recommend the product mainly because of its strength and its cutting time, but the warranty is only going to help in a catastrophic failure.

This was purchased to replace one that broke after years of use. Love it!
