Easy to wire up, just read the directions and follow the step about "not turning the screw too far". Solid little unit. Used it to switch over an ikea hard-wired lamp to a wall socket, been using it 24/7 for six months and no issues.

Great little design. Only needed wire strippers and a #2 philips head screwdriver to install. The clam shell clamps down on the cable for a secure plug, and has removable inserts if the cable is on the larger side. I fixed my block heater cord for less than $10 when the dealership wanted $250, lol

It feels a little cheap when you take it out of the package, but it gets the job done. The screws are easy to access and it holds the wires tightly.

Great product. Sturdy and well designed. Opens in an alligator fashon, making it super easy to install the copper wires. Also has very good mounting mechanisms (screws and plates for all three contacts). Has resizeable cord opening so you get both an appropriate diameter and stress relief. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again. This was installed on a very thick 12/2 AWG extension cord. Worked great. Wish they make them with LED current-live indicators.

This seems like a great product so far, it was really easy to use, and it seems really solid. It is not as bulky as some other versions of this that I have seen and everything seems clamped down fairly well. I would still avoid ripping it out of the wall, but I am not overly worried about just normal usage. For less then $10 a good way to save a cord that cost over $50 for a new one.

Single Product Review: Leviton extension cord plugs (male, female)Discussion: As part of this project, I needed to cut down the green seventy-five (75) foot extension cord, so I used Leviton connectors to re-terminate the ends. This is a 12AWG extension cord, and the plugs below are for 14AWG. So be sure you are buying the correct size plug. The Leviton 515CV plug has white inserts which you can remove to allow use with a 3-wire 12AWG extension cord.Project Summary: I have a temporary solar/PV battery backup project in the garage, and I wanted to use the generated solar power inside the house. Previously has an extension cord running through the door to the garage, but that's not safe for a lot of reasons, so I wired up a couple of electrical boxes, and wired in a cut-out switch. The inside connections are a standard wall outlet, and the outside connection to the inverter is via a twist lock plug, for extra security.Observations: All the parts used are listed at the end, and grouped by category.Recommendations:1) I looked at a lot of generator inlet receptacles, but most were 20-30 amp, and I don't need that large (standard 15A), so I used a NEMA locking L5-15P instead.2) As this was going to be a twist lock plug, I wanted to attach the electrical box to a stud if at all possible (vs. using the electrical box which clamps onto dry-wall). The Madison Electric Products boxes were perfect. I used a single gang on the inside box, and for the outside, I used a 2-gang so that I could also fit a cut-off switch. I mounted the 2-gang box rotated 90 degrees to the normal orientation for two reasons: a) I could screw it directly into the horitzontal stud, and b) I could mount the plug on the bottom, and the switch on the top.3) When it comes to electrical parts, I generally go with Leviton, which I have had great success with. I bought five of these, along with the mating Leviton 5359-VY female connectors, to make long extension cords into short ones. The connectors are of good quality and very easy to assemble. I reallly like the push-in terminals for the wires, which are then solidly secured with screws, and the good strain relief. I would buy these again if ever needed.

Works well for me. Easy to install and I like that I can change out the cord without destroying the plug
