I had seen quite a few reviews about this plane before I decided to order. Seemed like a good value for the price. I'm a power tool guy, but I felt I needed to up my game by starting to learn more hand tools. I've never had much luck using a hand plane, but given the positive reviews on this one, I ordered it.Wow, I was so pleasantly surprised. Right out the box, I was able to get some pretty darn good shavings. After fiddling with the adjustments for a few minutes, I was able to get those smooth even shave ribbons that you see on YouTube. Sole seems really flat, and the iron is quite sharp. I will do some work flattening and sharpening it further. But, even without that, I got really good results; smoothing, chamfers, end grain, etc. Highly recommend.

Seems good considering it is inexpensive, however the blade does not really seem like high carbon steel ,Also I found the edges of the sole to be very sharp and had to give them a slight Round over with 600 grit before use ,we'll see how long it holds a edge........ Have been using this daily for over a week to scribe interior trim it has been outstanding, excellent quality! Changed my rating to 5 stars,

I have several block planes at home but needed one in Florida. Since I needed a plane for a quick project, I didn't want to spend too much. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived (about 12 hrs after ordering!). The blade was useable out of the box, although I did refine it a bit. The sole was decently machined and flat. The adjusting mechanism worked smoothly. Bottom line: a good plane at a very reasonable price.

The surfaces needed a good bit of flattening and rhe edges were not well honed at all. I completely expected to have to tune it on arrival but the amount of flattening needed surprised me. I am confident it will function fine once well tuned and seemed robust enough for my purposes and minimal level of skill. If you do not know how to tune a plane of hand tool I'd keep looking as this will likely lead to less than ideal results on the finish as delivered. Without the ability to get flattened and honed well beyond a touch up would lead to frustration and likely some ruined projects. I got the edging plane as well and it was the same.I will be happy if the iron holds its edge fairly well.

I have been using this plane for about 5 days straight now laminating with veneer an antique sewing machine and I am very impressed by the sharpness and the quality. It even came nicely boxed with protective cloth to prevent corrosion. A thoughtful idea. It is very easy to dial in just the right amount of cut as well as the angle on the blade. The blade is extremely sharp and has not got dull after days of use. I love the comfort and fit of the feel of the tool. Very comfortable to hold. Love the vernier adjustment wheel it makes for accurate adjustment.
