Before opening the manufacturers packaging it was rattling around like a child’s piggy bank. The shipping packaging was in great condition along with how it was handled packaged inside the box. The manufacturer packaging was a different story when the box was open parts came tumbling out. It is wrapped to a piece of cardboard then slid into a box either during packing or maybe the item was a return the plastic was loosened and items were missing. Was not able to use due to the large number of missing nuts and bolts. I did give it a look over to see if I could cobble something together and get bolts locally but it would have been more trouble than it was worth. The shifter ball was small undersize and pretty cheap feeling not what I would expect from a hurst product. The shift levers chrome was pitted in areas as if the metal wasn’t prepped right before the chroming process. The brackets had some minor burrs on them that also made me think a rush at the manufacturer. Not the quality I am used to with Hurst brand. Hopefully this is something that just missed quality control and not a sign of a lesser quality part.

I have a 1980 Ford F-100 and, like many others, my shift collar broke on my steering column. I decided to move my control to a floor shifter. Don’t buy this. Here are the reasons why-1- The instructions are terrible. I’d like to think that I’m pretty handy and really good mechanically. Because this is a universal shifter, it comes with a ton of little pieces, for which most of them, The instructions don’t even acknowledge. I ended up having to call Hurst and the employee on the the other end of the phone was just as blown away by the lack of clarity.2- I paid more money for a hurst product because I wanted quality and stability. How this thing attaches to fhe the bracket is crazy. You have to unbolt the one bolt that keeps the shifter assembly together and bolt it on to the bracket. It moves around every time you shift gears and if you tighten it too much, it clamps down on the inner workings of the shifter and it becomes unable to change gears.3- Every description that I read said that it would fit most older Ford three speed transmission. I have a 3.03 transmission that was pretty much standard for three speed manuals. Even when I use the mountain hall closest to the front of my vehicle there was no way to shift into first or third gear. I have the standard bench seat and it was moved all the way back. I even try to drill my own hole further up on the bracket and it still wouldn’t work.Don’t waste your money. I’m sure y’all love your truck like I do. Be good to her
