No where did it state that windows 11 will not let you install anything that is not bought from the microsoft store, and no where did it state that you have to renew windows 11 after one year. I would never have spent the money on this product had I known this information. Also found out that the warranty was almost up and that was not in any information either. I am very dissappointed in this product and will not buy any electronic device from Amazon again. I would like Amazon to contact me to discuss this.

It arrived in a great condition and it was very easy to set it up, it didn't take long before it was ready to run. Its performance is fast and I have no complaints. I've never seen a laptop with the components that it has for this generous of a price. You are getting Windows 10, a 1080p screen, an SSD, 8GB RAM, and an i5 processor. It is only missing a backlit keyboard to make me happy, but that is pretty much a negligible flaw. This is hands down the best bang for your buck. If you want a solid versatile budget laptop with the most recent technology, get this laptop. If you have zero knowledge about computers and are just looking to buy a new quality laptop, buy this one.

Very nice unit! I've experienced no issues (typing on it now) since I received it from Amazon back the week before Christmas. I have to assume that at least some of the negative reviews I've read more relate to the user struggling with Windows 10 rather than the laptop itself. That's said with no offense towards those reviewers; Windows 10 leaves a bit to be desired especially if you're comfortable using previous operating systems such as Windows 7 or my all time favorite, Windows XP. Give Windows 10 chance, you'll grow comfortable with it given enough time. The display on this laptop is very nice with full HD (1080p). The difference is definitely there when compared to a lesser display. With that said, a little more contrast would be nice but I'm not going to complain at this price point. The keyboard is very responsive but would have been a plus if it were back-lit; perhaps another sacrifice to keep the price attractive. Keep in mind although it's not the same as back-lit keys, you can purchase a USB powered LED keyboard light for less than $10 right here on Amazon. Check out the one reviewed by me, it works great! One more thing regarding performance, the boot time for this laptop is incredible; all of twenty seconds. You'll want to remove a few programs and deactivated a few from the system start-up. All in all, you just can't beat solid state drives for speed. 128GB is a bit paltry but again I have to mention the great laptop price (just $429 when I purchased). Just something to keep in mind, you can get an jump-drive for less than twenty bucks that will double your storage space all while taking up just an inch or two of space in your laptop bag.IMPORTANT NOTE: Regarding RAM, although 8GB is very respectable and more than enough for basic functions such as email, surfing the net and running many programs, you might want more for labor intensive things such as high resolution video or photo editing. This laptop offers upgrading to 16GB. Unlike other PCs I've had in the past, the upgrade won't require replacing the existing RAM; HP was kind enough to take up just one of the two RAM bays with an 8GB module. All you have to do is purchase one more IDENTICAL module for the empty bay. RAM configuration can be a complicated thing so DON'T just jump out there on Amazon and purchased 8GBs without giving it some thought. I've done some research on the type needed for this laptop (somewhat of a pain, ALL info not available even at HP website). Be sure to get an 8GB module that is of equal speed to the existing one. Try a website like the one from Crucial by Micron to determine exactly what you have as I believe some of these laptops have some differences where RAM is concerned although all offer 8GB in total memory. Also be sure to get a module that is of a 260 pin configuration (Crucial won't tell you this). Another interesting fact is that although the specs on Amazon report the installed RAM as DDR3, the module in my unit was DDR4 a much better performer than DDR3. The board on this laptop can handle either by the way. Just make sure that the modules in each bay are the same; DDR3 and DDR4 CAN NOT coexist.Existing RAM in my laptop as delivered from Amazon:DDR4 PC4-17000 • CL=15 • Dual Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-2133 • 1.2V • 1024Meg x 64

Ridiculously cost-efficient middle-of-the-road laptop for home/school/work purposes. Featuring a 6th gen i5 processor, 8 whopping gigs of DDR4 ram (And yes, it is DDR4, NOT DDR3, I verified with cpu-z), and a SSD, there is very little this laptop can't handle in terms of processing power, speed, and efficiency.I highly recommend this laptop if you're looking for a cheap, lightweight laptop that packs far more punch than it's worth. However, do note that it does NOT have a dedicated graphics card, and there is very little space on the SSD. Therefore, if you're looking for a gaming computer, or you want to be able to store vast amounts of data, this isn't the laptop for you.Others have mentioned that the buttons on the trackpad are a bit stiff, but personally I view that as yet another positive aspect. The integrated trackpads that are so popular nowadays which have easy-to-press buttons annoy me to death. I much prefer a trackpad with well-defined, separate buttons so that I'm not accidentally pressing the buttons in all the time.Regarding the design of the laptop: it's minimalist, lightweight, sleek, and simple. It isn't going to make you marvel in its beauty, but at the same time, it's efficient and easy to use/carry around. The built in camera and mic are also a nice little boost. The only feature it's lacking is a backlit keyboard, which isn't necessary, and I certainly wouldn't expect one at this price. In closing; this is the best laptop you're going to be able to find unless you're willing to pour in a couple hundred more dollars in. If you want a gaming laptop or something high-end, quit being a miser and invest some money into it. If you want a well-built mid-range computer for the cheapest price possible, buy this.

For the price, this is a wonderful laptop. I'm coming from a 6+ year old Acer, that had the first generation i7 in it, and for what I've used it for (work, web browsing, no gaming, light development), it has had plenty of processing power. 8gb of RAM is plenty for most of my needs, and the SSD is a nice feature. Boots up in about 10 seconds, shuts down equally fast. I don't keep tons of stuff on the PC itself, so 128gb is plenty. Had about 90-95gb usable for my stuff, out of 118gb formatted.I have a hard time typing on the keyboard - I mistype often, not sure if I'm still getting used to it, or if it is the keyboard itself - ~3 weeks of use.Things that might bother some:* The body is plastic, not metal. It doesn't feel fancy, That might bother some, but I'm okay with it. I wouldn't be shopping for a budget device if I was expecting superior build quality - I just want it to work and work well, it seems to do that.* The left mouse button only clicks when I press it in the dead center. 95% of the time I click by just tapping, but sometimes it is annoying when I forget.Things that bother me:* The F keys - F1-F12 only work when holding the Fn key. Yet, the other features like airplane mode I just have to hit F12 to turn on. Whoever decided that was an idiot. A bunch of features that I don't use often, with the exception of the volume controls (F6-F7-F8, Mute, Lower, Higher) I inadvertently press all the time. Alt+F4 - nope, that's the projector button.* Numlock is always turned off when turning on the PC. Minor gripe, just have to remember to turn it on first thing every time. All in all - it is a solid budget device. Lot of computer for the money, with a budget quality build. I don't think it is going to fall apart, but it definitely isn't top notch.

Awesome computer! Before buying this laptop, I did a lot of research to get a worthy computer, so I almost got the HP Envy 15 on their website for less than 5 hundred but after seeing so many reviews there, I decided to give it a try and get this one.If you are a regular user and want it to send emails, surf the web, use Photoshop and things like that, you should consider getting this computer, now, if you are and advanced user expecting to play heavy games, I don't believe its the best for you. With I5 processor, you can do a lot of things, multitask and you will see no lag on it, considering I bought the 128 Gb SSD, so about graphics, nothing to complain about. The weight? I saw some people saying that its a little heavy, and before buying this laptop, I really believed it, even because seeing the pictures, you think it really is, but after having it in hands, man, its nothing heavy, very light, and the design is much nicer than in the pictures, IN MY OPINION!!So, very good display, beautiful design (*Looks much better than in the picture, believe me), nice keyboard with no cons, great webcam when you are in a light place, 3.5 stars touchpad, nice sound with DTS software so you can edit the sound quality and don't forget that the sound comes by the left and right sides of the laptop, not from the bottom! Now, the only CONS until now: The Touchpad! Really, I just think they should make a better responsive one because sometimes you need to press two times so that it can work and its not as sensitive as I expected it to be, that's why I'm already considering in buying a mice soon.Final Consideration: Despite this Touchpad, it is worthy every penny spent and if you are looking for a good computer for a good price and great performance for daily tasks, Photoshop, play some games and multitask, Get It... Have a good day!!

This has laptop has met and exceeded my expectations as a gift to my non-techie mom and replaced an 8 year old HP laptop that was getting a little long in the tooth (FYI the old laptop was running a modern day SSD but was still a bit slow for normal web surfing). A little background about me - I'm an avid computer builder/tinkerer and tend to pick out desktops and laptops for my friends and family. My criteria for a laptop for my mom were:- Ability to easily handle watching online video streams (e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime, & Youtube)- Decent wi-fi speed to surf the internet briskly (e.g. Gmail & various websites)- Zippy in loading applications (e.g. download photos & MS office Word/Excel use) & fast boot up- Less than $500. I got this PC for a great price (way lower than my criteria) on Cyber Monday.- Light enough to tote around for occasional vacations & trips- Has adequate cooling- Comes with a number pad for spreadsheet data entry. It's performed all of these tasks admirably after a little over 35 days of use. The 128 gb HD is awfully small for most people. This small hard drive size is not a problem for my mother since I have her setup to automatically download her photos to a home Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. For those of you who don't have such a setup, either an external hard drive, flash drive, or replacing the SSD with a larger one would work for data storage. For the reasons listed above, I would recommend this product anyone looking for a non-gaming laptop for general household use.
