The parts are machined ok, but with sharp edges which need stoning or filing down. It's all made from mild steel, so care needed to avoid dinging it up.No oil had been applied to lubricate or preserve the parts during shipping. There was a fair bit of rust to clean out from the inside surfaces. Nothing serious.Backlash in the screw has been 'adjusted' using a centre punch to peen over the edge of the rib that the screw sits in. Does the job I guess. The threads look good, both on the arbour and the adjustment screw. Not sloppy and work smoothly.Dial is well engraved. 0.001" on radius adjustment (i.e. 0.002" on hole diameter). The gib is the fixed cantilever type, i.e. cheap to make. Difficult to adjust to give smooth movement and also allow locking. The boring bars are better than I expected, although they are made from mild steel. The carbide is sharp and looks accurately brazed in place. The fit in the boring head is only ok. I would have hoped for a very close sliding fit, but there is half a thou or so clearance. In all, good value for money, and will work well for the average home shop machinist.

Ok it’s worth the money and cuts fine with the stock cutters supplied, but their is excessive backlash in the depth of cut scale I took it apart and found that the manufacture over milled the slot the shafts round sits in to limit backlash , this unfortunately cannot be repaired by milling since the round that sits in the slot is too short, i could mill a whole new adjustment shaft , but other then that it works fine however when turning the thousandths knob you will not get a thousandth in one turn , the backlash is about a 1/4 inch in each direction. Also the R8 collet with it was rough and refused to go up into my milling head when lined up with keyway.. I had to gently toy with it to get it locked in. So I have given it a three to three 1/2 star rating. Regards D

the carbide welded to the cutters is set to cut counter clockwise? and my mill turns clockwise , and if you reverse the rotation it unthreads and comes apart . so i have no idea how to use it now ...

Great price and works great. I have even used the cutters in my lathe so got a two for one deal. Came very fast no issues at all.

Boring head is very nice, fit perfect in my machine. Case is very sturdy as well. The boring bars are nothing to rave about though. Brazed carbide was nice and sharp, but you have to take EXTREMELY small depth of cut with them. One of the smallest ones bent right over without too much force.

I loved it but one thing is missing. left handed turning tool for using the outside horizonal hole to machine larger size bores. the one included will only work if your machine can be ran in reverse. still a good value just need to work out using that outer hole. not easy to find left handed boring bars to fit. I will likely make my own.

Decent for the price. The inserts are not hardened steel, so tightening the set screw marrs the surface. The diameter adjustment is not accurate either, so don't count the divisions. I was off by over .040" when widening a half inch hole to .890".Also, the deepest cut I was able to do on aluminum was about 0.030" LOL. I don't recommend trying to machine anything other than aluminum, unless you change out the inserts for better ones. Like I said, the steel is soft, so it bends and chatters if the cut is too deep.Other than that, I would recommend this for really low tolerance aluminum stuff. (Like +/- .020" at best lol)
