It would be an understatement to say that this Halti has changed our lives.We have a 4-year-old 60lb black lab who, because of ear infections, ear pain, and because of that some conditioned noise sensitivities and fear in puppyhood was always walked on a harness and longer lead because collars and short leashes tended to increase her anxiety if she got spooked while on a walk.As she grew, the pulling intensified to the point that walks were never an enjoyable experience for us or for her. She loved being outside and going for walks, but the pulling meant that we were constantly having our arms yanked, were constantly stopping to try and enforce some practices that a trainer showed us, and were *constantly* frustrated with her and ourselves because we could never get momentum on a walk and felt like we were always fighting with her to slow down.Some walkers in the neighbourhood with a bigger lab than her told us that we should try the Halti because it had helped them with similar pulling issues but we thought we could try a few other training things first. Finally this Fall, in exasperation, I ordered it just to try it.The difference was immediate. She didn't like it at first, as most dogs don't, but the first two or three walks with it we offered an irresistible spoon of peanut butter to entice her to put her face through the loop and after that she had no trouble putting it on. As soon as it went on her she seemed to be calm, maybe from the sensation of feeling restricted, but it had an immediate impact on her pulling. It took maybe two walks for her to learn that if she tries to pull she faces discomfort and after that she no longer pulled.But the biggest difference I noticed - and the reason why I say that the Halti is not *just* about physical correction - is that it changes the experience of the walk for both you and the dog. Suddenly I was no longer frustrated about walks, I was no longer frustrated with her for pulling, no longer stopping to hold her back and try to get her to look at me, no longer cutting walks short because my arm hurt. Suddenly I enjoyed walking with her.And as we all know, dogs pick up our energy and so she also began to calm down and love to walk. Some of her nervousness around noises, skateboards, bikes, or strangers began to fade away a bit and she began to be able to handle little triggers *way* better than she had before, and I realized that probably a lot of her anxiety on walks was coming from us, unfortunately.So far the Halti hasn't changed her behaviour on a harness - she will still pull like a Clydesdale - but not only are we enjoying the walks we go on, but we are going 3x as often because they have become enjoyable activities rather than stressful events for everyone involved, she has even trimmed down a bit and lost some weight from the extra exercise and is obviously a much happier dog.

Works exactly as it should. While my dog is wearing it they do not pull. This does not train your dog not to pull.

I am not one to write reviews, but this has been an absolute game changer. My dog has the luxury of running free in the trails 80% of the time; however, that 20% on leash is unbearable. He is strong and pulls without any regard for who is on the other end of the lead. We have tried various training methods without success. Someone who witnessed him dragging me around suggested this lead and it has transformed the way we walk together. We have only had it for a few days and I am amazed and how quickly he has learned. He doesn’t love it but he is adapting with praise, short stints with it on and the odd treat. I would absolutely recommend to anyone who has a dog that pulls.

I don't get why this product has such a high return rate, unless people may have gotten the wrong measurements for their doggo. But oh my goodness, it's still as amazing as when we were first introduced to it in 2001!Back then, we had a 100 lbs Labrador mix who was crossed with all kinds of ornery, and even after obedience classes and all kinds of training, he would pull so hard he'd regularly yank me down to the ground, break free from my grip, and take off for adventures around our neighborhood (namely running to the nearby cow pasture to roll in cow patties. Which really stunk. Washing cow poo out of dog fur outside on a cold autumn afternoon is not fun, would not recommend).I'm not exaggerating at all when I say the halti collar saved my dog from being dropped off at the shelter, because my parents were just about fed up with the stubborn boy. But then our vet recommended trying the halti collar. And man, was it a game changer!All of a sudden, we could easily walk him! There was no more tugging, pulling, or knocking us to the ground. We could actually get him to heel. And, with positive reinforcement, he grew to love it, even running up to us to put his muzzle inside the halti because he knew it meant we were going out on another delightful walk!And here I am now, over 20 years later, finally ordering my second halti collar as my last one sadly bit the dust, and it's just as good as all those years ago! My Caucasian Shepherd/Pyrenees cross is doing great with it, and I'm so grateful to be able to be able to experience the wonderful joy of using a halti with a large dog all over again! I love how they've improved the design, with extra padding in the halter around the nose area, as well as the fabulous added safety strap to help prevent the halter from slipping off the muzzle! It also has added reflective material which my old one did not have. And, after just a couple of positive training sessions, I'm already noticing a difference in his tugging, and I'm controlling him with a lot more ease.If you have a big dog or a hard to manage dog to walk, I absolutely encourage you to get the halti! It has been a favorite dog walking collar of mine for over 2 decades, and I plan on continuing to use it in the years to come. Definitely recommend!

Gracie loves this. broad comfy straps with quality fittings adjusts easily. She looks uncomfortable in the shot.. but thats because shes cold nothing else. I popped tge halti on before treats.. it sits on her muzzle without fuss.. we'll put it on and take it off for a few days until she relates it to breakfast.. taken off like we do her collar each day. Once its ordinary. We will walk with it.Recommend popping new halti under your armpit for a while before first use tobtake your scent for your dog.Recommend placing scented halti in bed before first use so she knows its you and shes looking after a new collar for you.. Then fit so she can get used to halter on muzzle.
