Normally, I use a rag or cloth of some sort. The sponges worked much better and applied the stain more evenly and I felt like I did not waste as much. Once the stain is applied, the rest of the process is the same. Wiped off with rags, etc. But the application part went well and I would use these again.

These things are pretty good to apply spray waxes or quick detailer. They wash great in the machine and hold their firm well.Good buy for the money.
