My Garmin DriveAssist 51 battery charges while plugged into the car, but will not charge from the USB port on my computer. Garmin does warn about this. This has not been a problem so far, but we moved to a more rural community where everything is a lot closer and more available. So the shorter distances driven in the car, plus the pandemic advising against long trips or travel, and our Canadian winter not being conducive to driving too far anyway, led to the battery getting very low, with no effective way to reliable charge it. The EDO Tech AC Adapter solved that problem very quickly and very well. 5 stars!

This AC Adapter did the trick. I had attempted to download maps for my Garmin using different AC Adapters, but they didn’t do work. This AC Adapter worked great and I was able to download maps without any difficultly. I would definitely recommend this product.

Product as depicted. The Female USB end is solid and square, making it easier to find a way to fix it tight to a bike part, and plug and unplug phones, etc. You may need to buy a small pack of longer zip ties when running the cord back to the battery. These cords always require some dickering around, each bike being different.

On my Garmin 650, plugging this in at home works to accept and display traffic info also, just like the normal connection in the car. I was pleasantly surprised by this. A blue light on top lights up on the converter to show that it has this feature, again just like the car unit.
