I know nothing about clarinets. What in this review could possibly help you? Well, I've had fun with recorders and decided to try a clarinet. I first bought, on Amazon, the cheapest, at around $100. It took a while but I got notes. However, with research, I realized that the top barrel sealed well, allowing notes. However, the bottom barrel, apparently sealing poorly, offered no note changes at all. As I liked the clarinet idea, I finally did research, on You Tube etc. The result was that I purchased this clarinet, opting to go up a couple of hundred dollars. It is by far not the most expensive clarinet out there. I assembled the clarinet and immediately got a nice note. I also got notes from the bottom barrel. So this clarinet appears well made. In addition, it has a wider mouthpiece which is easier to use. It also came with three reeds, each a different size, which is a good idea as one increases one's skills. There is a little stand which isn't much use. The case is flexible but solid. I still have no idea what the extra small barrel is, as it seems to fit nothing. The clarinet comes with the usual cork grease, gloves, wiping clean cloth etc. As a beginner's clarinet, at least, I can certainly recommend this one. I actually plan to take lessons!!

Let me preface this review by saying I have no experience with clarinets and this is the first one I've ever owned so take it with a grain of salt.First of all this comes with everything you need, including cork grease, gloves, reeds, even a stand. The quality seems very good, it comes in a matte black finish with nickel-plated keys. The clarinet does come with a black case that holds all the accessories and clarinet parts snuggly. The case does seem pretty sturdy but there were some loose threads sticking out. (this does not seem to effect the durability)The clarinet itself has a good weight to it and feels solidly constructed. Initially I did find putting the clarinet together to be a challenge but after watching a youtube video on how to do it, it was pretty easy. The key is to use the cork grease on the parts and work it into the cork very well. You have to rotate the parts so that they are covered equally in grease. It is a very snug fit but it is supposed to be air tight so that the air stays within the clarinet. When you put it together the first time I suggest you work in the grease on each part then disassemble it and reassemble it a couple more times to work it in.I played a couple of notes and it sounded very good to me and I will continue to learn on this wonderful instrument. Overall I'm very happy with this clarinet it seems very good value for a beginner and a comparable clarinet is about $600 at my local music store so this is about 1/6th the price with all accessories included.

Overall I think this clarinet is a good value and has held up after 3/4 of a year of play and I decided to upgrade to a better clarinet. It came with everything need to start playing around with the clarinet and I am grateful that it had everything needed to get going. The reason this is 4 stars is I think the mouthpiece & ligature combo results in a bit of warping to one side, it's subtle but it made getting started as a beginner much more difficult than it needed to be. I even used the mouthpiece & ligature combo from my new clarinet and the ECL-300 played significantly better.I don't know if mine was particularly bad for the mouthpiece but it is something to keep in mind as having to get a new mouthpiece as well does affect the price point.

After I bought about 2 month, it did not work well. We tried to repair then worked about 1 month. After I bought 4 month, it totally can not be used. Do not buy it

So I bought this clarinet for my daughter, since her old GLORY one stopped working, and hoped this one was better. I was, but hard to assemble even with cork grease. She left it on her clarinet stand, and after a few hours, it stopped working with the wooden reed. It worked with the plastic one, but made an unnatural buzzing sound while playing. None of her old reeds worked with it, either. (There were no chips in the reeds). Hoping the next one will be better. The body is built well, and is smooth to the touch. The silver keys and reed cases are also very good. But when she plays lower notes or higher notes, sometimes she squeaks (And she is not a beginner).

Came in perfect condition, but it took way too long to assemble. The video was too fast, and it didn’t come with oil so we had to use our own. Even with the oil it was really hard to. Not satisfied

I’ve always wanted a clarinet since I was a child. Got this, looks the part and comes in a handy case. Thought I’d be playing Christmas carols within a few weeks of getting it. Boy was I wrong. It’s hard to get a note but it’s all about practice practice practice. Determined to get there

I've never played a woodwind instrument but my impulsiveness told me I needed a clarinet. They're one of the quieter instruments so figured it would be perfect for an apartment. I can't really compare it to an expensive one since this is my first ever clarinet but it plays really nicely. Perfect for someone that just wants to mess around with something on their free time.At first I literally couldn't figure out how to make a noise but after watching a ton of youtube videos (quickstart clarinet on youtube) I finally could make a great sounding noise and I could finally start playing. Just make sure the whole reed is wet, other wise you wont make a noise. It comes with everything you could possibly need but the cork grease which was weird to me. Because cork grease is so important to have. Even flutes come with cork grease and you definitely dont want cork grease on a flute. But it even comes with a thumb pad, which you'll want to use because this thing is heavy. But it being heavy, it Definitely looks really well made for the price. It's quite beautiful.Overall it's definitely worth the price. If it weren't for these mass produced/cheap instruments then I would never get into playing music. Definitely buy it if you're thinking of getting into clarinet. Worth it rather than renting one when it'd end up costing more than this.
