Always a pain, and expensive, finding certain wooden dowels. Walnut and other dark woods are quite often hard to find. Now, I make any size I want out of any color wood and they turn out very well!!Love this thing. If you do a lot of decorative dowel joinery, this tool is for you! Paid for itself in very short order !

So I'm not sure about the low star reviews on this item! The product is CNC made, very high quality. The cutting edge is replaceable, maybe not from this company but do a insert search with measurement's. You aren't a true woodworker if you cannot get this to work or give it a low review. The 3/8 makes a dowel just a hair under 3/8, like 2 tenths of a mm and after sanding might be a little small for a 3/8 hole. Make a 7/16 dowel and with light sanding will get you closer to a true 3/8. Very good purchase!

Works ok, but it really tears the wood up. So if you want this to have exposed dowels, this won’t do it.
