I was worried about some of the negative feedback, but gave it a try since it wasn't very expensive and didn't have much to lose.I already have a dremel-type nail grinder, but the noise and vibration are always a bit intimidating to my dog, and the sand-paper rolls always leave the nail coarsely grinded with sharp edges, so I need to file the nails afterwards. I decided to give this small nail grinder a try, thinking the worse thing that could happen is I would have an electric file to finish off the grinding. This grinder goes though my minpin's nails in no time at all. I'm not sure what those comments about this grinder being slow or not very powerful, mine goes through nails like butter, I'm able to grind my dog's nails nearly as fast as my 120V dremel grinder (I'd say 80% as fast). But it's much smaller, a LOT quieter, and the nails end up being filed at the same time, so it's a big time saver for me. Plus, I don't feel my dog's nails pushed back when I grind them as with my dremel-type grinder, so this feels much much safer. My dog never liked to have her nails clipped or grinded (that's typical of Minpins), but she's already accepted this grinder.I'm not sure how well it would work on very large dogs, but I think it's perfect for small and medium-sized dogs.

My dog is the size of a jack russell (she is a mixed breed) and has small paws/nails. This grinder works really well for her and grinds the nails shorter very fast. My dog does not like getting her nails cut (she snarls), but she will tolerate these more than regular clippers, and I can get through all her nails quickly in one sitting. I also feel more comfortable using these as they get the job done very fast, and I'm always worried the regular nail clippers will hurt the dog. The nail grinder does produce a ton of dust from the ground nails that get blown out from the grinding stone spinning, so I would suggest using this outside. One downside is that I don't think this nail grinder would work very well for larger dogs. I only say this because at one point while using the nail grinder the grinding stone stalled for a few seconds. I'm guessing the motor that runs the nail grinder isn't very strong, so larger, thicker dog nails may just cause the nail grinder to stall more often. Another, large, downside to this nail grinder is that while it is very quiet when it is turned on (it makes a low buzzing noise), as soon as the nail grinder comes into contact with my dog's nails it makes a loud, sharp whirring sound. Fortunately, the sound does not bother my dog too much.Overall, it works well for me and I prefer this over regular dog nail clippers.

Got this to try on my dog who HATES his nails being cut with clippers. It quickly became our weekly go-to! The size is unintimidating, and truly isn't loud (more of a soft whir.) We have used this for 8 months now (on large, thick nails) and the diamond grinder hasn't shown signs of dulling. It's a great investment! We introduced this slowly by turning it on and putting it close with a treat reward. Then a reward with every nail done. With positive reinforcement this tool is sure to make nail trimming easy and enjoyable!

It seems like a very good product. Doesn't make a lot of noise. Easy to handle. BUT my 1 yr old cat practically ripped me to shreds trying to escape when I brought it near her so she could get used to it! I hadn't even used it ON her claws! So, I have no experience in how it actually works on braver cats.

Maybe could be good for small thin nails but not for even medium sized dogs. Doesn't actually grind or will stall it.

The tool works very well and is much easier to use than standard clippers. The cats do not get as upset when we trim their claws with this tool.

It worked well as long as my cat started to be bigger. Now that it's a struggle to hold her when this is on. As soon as she hears the sound she runs for her life.... But... I plan to buy one of these bags that let us suspend the cat (or dog) with holes for the 4 paws. Because when she was still a tiny kitten, this worked wonders. The best way to make me feel secure about trimming her nails. It's sturdy and works very well. I just happen to have a brat.
