This guide is perfect for cutting the bottoms of doors or squaring up smaller pieces of sheet goods. So far, it does stay put pretty well without clamps, however I use the DeWalt clamps most of the time. As dust gets on the bottom, it does not stay put without clamps very well. Five stars because it works and is useful to me. We cut down four doors with no chips, burns, irregular marks or other issues.Like the longer track, it is a bit of a chore to keep it clean. I'm going to keep mine well brushed and wiped to make it last longer.

The first one I ordered off of Amazon a few years ago was crooked. Didn't notice it until I was using it to build cabinetry and kept making cuts that were off. Checked it against my straight edge and sure enough, there was a big crook in it.They seems to stop producing them for awhile because I couldn't find new ones in the 59" size. I finally found them again and ordered this one last week. I checked it for straight and true right out of the box. There was no error in it that I could find and I used some pretty small shims (.005") to check for true. I'm guessing they fixed whatever manufacturing error that was causing the problem.I'm back to being really happy with the Dewalt track saw.

I bought this for my DeWalt tracksaw, and it does everything that it is supposed to do.The first time you use it, just cut a piece of scrap wood, because it will trim off the edge of the black rubber guide, to fit your particular saw. Once you have cut on both sides of the track, it is ready to use.I don't use any clamps on the track, you don't really need them. It won't slide around on the sheet that you are cutting, even though you will be scared that it will....lol. I do keep the back side of the track very clean, and the surface of the sheet I'm cutting, just to be sure that the track will "adhere" to the sheet. It's not sticky, but it has a felt-like surface that does seem to stick to the wood when you are cutting.I put a big red dot on my tracksaw, where it fits into the center of this track, just to make it easy to plop the saw into the track without thinking about it. After you use it for awhile, that won't be an issue.

Definitely need this for the short cross cuts. Tried to get by with just the 9 foot one for years, can’t believe I waited so long. When you buy this saw, get some scrap pieces and run both sides of the track at least once, you have to cut some of the material off first pass. Once that is done, you can make more accurate cuts. With some dust collection on the saw, this method for ripping large sheet goods is the cleanest and most accurate, and easiest I have come across in my shop.

After deliberating over the 3 major brands of track saws I chose DeWalt on several factors. 1. I'm already on the DeWalt platform. 2. Cost of tracks is significantly less than festool. Even though I own festool CT and Rotex Sanders I can't stand the rats nest of hoses tangled with power cords and wasn't going to invest in festool battery system. I'm already on Makita platform as well but chose DeWalt as I feel the batteries are much better and wan't anti kick back because the last time I used the Makita at work it kick backed cutting the cord off and nearly ran over my arm, full disclosure I was in a rush and not paying attention.I was worried after all the negative reviews stating that connecting 2 59" tracks wouldn't work well and I can understand that having a full length track would be best. But when I connected 2 together, using the festool connector ($20 made in Germany) because the DeWalt ($30) isn't available, according to my laser it's dead nuts straight. I plan on carefully aligning the rails for long cuts and using the DeWalt clamps so it should be just fine no need to pay big pucks for a huge piece of aluminum. The DeWalt bag is so nice with inner Velcro straps to hold both rails, like a double ski bag. Super portable between jobs and storage. Definitely recommend the DeWalt system on this one!
