The product itself is fabulous, I love the detailed instruction in areas I’d not think to incorporate in a geography curriculum but are actually very crucial to it. This is the TEACHER’S GUIDE, keep that in mind when purchasing. You will need to reproduce all worksheets individually OR, purchase the student workbook separately. Every lesson comes with a corresponding transparency of that week’s map, though I’m not sure how beneficial that is for home education. It’s a simple, effective way to teach geography, but it does require a fair amount of teacher involvement and/or prep. It is best suited for unit learning for multiple students in a home setting, and would work wonderfully as is in a traditional classroom.

I started using this book for 6th grade with my homeschooled child. I’m pleased with it. It covers a wide variety of geography skills from basic elements on a map to parallels and meridians, regions of the world, and different types of maps. The book presents the information to cover with the student on a page for the teacher. Then, there are two questions per day for the next five days on that topic for the student.I like that the book breaks it down to a manageable amount so the students are learning but it only takes a few minutes to complete. I don’t believe the Teaching page is meant to be given to the student to read since the answers are on it for the daily questions. I go over the information verbally with my child and then have him answer the questions on his own. Then, I go back over the answers with him. I don’t give him the book and just have him do it. I believe the complaints about the answers being on the page are because the book isn’t meant to be just handed to the student. I believe the information is meant to be taught. As a certified teacher, I would love using this in a classroom because there are “teacher” pages with the answers right there and student pages. Excellent resource that I’m having fun with in my home classroom.

The book is set up for weekly lessons. You can pull out the pages and color the map of the week-or not. There is a few paragraphs to explain the map. Then, under each day of the week, there are two questions for your student to answer. Sometimes we answer all ten questions in one sitting. Sometimes we take it one day at a time. It only takes about 5 to 15 minutes a day to do (if you don't spark a conversation or get curious about something and go on a researching side trip, which isn't a bad thing). Finally, if you want, you can have your youngster do the challenge question or activity listed after Friday's questions. To me, it seems like I am just slipping a bit of knowledge into my son's brain painlessly-thirty six sets, of bits, of knowledge. I think the book is meant to enhance your regular geography program, if you have one. I use this book because I am unsatisfied with the way our history book teaches geography. A lot of local street mapping is never covered in our history books. This book gives a more thorough look at a variety of things maps are used for.

It was a nice book just to high for my students to use it.

I am homeschooling my two, seventh grade daughters. I have been looking for a really informative yet fun geography workbook all year and finally found it! In the first 10 weeks alone, they have learned about all the different kinds of maps, how to chart coordinates, as well as beginning to identify major countries, cities and oceans. The book is set up with only two questions per day, but we do a weeks worth of questions every day. It only takes about twenty minutes and both girls have declared it "fun.". The only thing i would change is the answers are in plain sight and my girls have to purposely avoid looking at the answer key in order to not cheat. The answer key needs to be moved to the back to be more helpful. I think this book is a great resource for 6,7 & 8th grade students who want to firm up their knowledge of world geography before moving on to high school level material.
