If you are not comfortable with power tools and drilling steel, have this professionally installed as you do not want to make additional holes in your trailer tongue frame by miss-drilling or break drill bits. If you are comfortable, have at it. There are quality detailed instructions available online "Curt" website or YouTube for installation. Good quality HD weight distribution hitch.

Product is exactly as described! Had some concerns as some customers had broken boxes and missing parts however mine came in great condition. Was planning to purchase this kit for our new trailer further into the spring but it was such a great deal I had to get it now. Test fit all the parts and they all fit well. This kit is very heavy definitely a two person lift. The delivery driver took great care to ensure the box made it and in good condition.

My wife and I took a 6 month RV trip with our Travel trailer. This hitch was our hitch of choice and it was great! After initial setup which was very straightforward we were able to tow comfortably in our F250. Did the job of leveling the load and stopping sway. Easy to adjust and modify. Just need airbags and we will be off to the races!

If there is a single purchase you must make with a bumper pull camper, it is a weight distribution hitch. It completely changes the game when driving with a reasonably large trailer. The anti-sway bar is a nice add. The fact that it comes as a unit makes it very easy to attach. I gave it four stars on installation because the sway bar does require you to bolt to the frame. This is going to be difficult for some. But once in place, it is very easy to attach. I believe the same company makes one that does not require bolts in the frame for a little more money. So that might be worth it for those who are nervous about drilling through the frame. Not bolting to the frame also allows you to move the hitch to other campers, so that is something to consider.Back on the topic of the weight distribution hitch. I was driving a Ford Expedition, and it completely changes how it handles. Without it, you get a "wag the dog" feel as the front wheels feel like they are ready to lift off the ground. Once you lock this in place (and adjust properly), you get a smooth ride and your front wheels sit comfortably on the ground, even on bumpy roads. One tip for beginners is this, the weight distribution hitch uses clamps for your frame (as opposed to the sway bar that bolts on). The clamp is tightened with a bolt that presses against the frame. You only need tighten that bolt enough to keep it from moving. Your frame will begin to bend if you just keep cranking, so don't do that. You have to remember, the clamp brackets have a continual downward force and will stay strongly in place with the camper attached. One more thing. This system is heavy. This is a good thing. It is solidly made. But if you yourself are smaller framed, you might need a second person to help you install the hitch and stabilizing bars. Otherwise, just consider it like your free weight lifting gym membership while out on vacation :-)All in all, this was an essential purchase for the camper and I am very happy with how well it works and how easy it is to use once you get past the small learning curve.

I have a new RAM1500 Limited with Air suspension that I tow a 30 foot Airstream trailer with. So, I needed to get an equalizer hitch for it. After searching and reading a lot of reviews and forums, I decided on this CURT hitch. So, I ordered and I installed it. Here is what I found:1. This s a very well made hitch and has clear directions, which is an enormous plus!!! You will also need to reference your vehicle manual for trailer towing to ensure you also cover any requirements that your vehicle has. Since my truck has air suspension, there are VERY specific things you need to do in addition to the instructions provided by CURT.2. CURT is quick to answer questions and they provide clear answers.3. You will absolutely need a Torque wrench to install this!!!!! Do NOT just guess!!!!!!!4. Ensure you follow lubrication instructions!!! If you do, it is easy to use and quiet!!5. Remember, torsion bars distribute weight onto tow vehicle, ball height adjusts trailer level, and ball angle adjusts torsion bar height above ground for correct torsion. Chain adjustment adjusts degree of weight transfer.I just completed a 1000 mile trip with the trailer and I could not be happier with the hitch! I would recommend it.

Installed last week. Took 2-3 hours only due to starting with all 8 spacer washers for cant (Per instructions), ended up disassembling and reassembling 3 times down to 3 washers to get angle right for hooking on 1 link down on chain. Last trailer seemed to have 6 or 7 spacers so not unreasonable.Have a 2"X 5" rectangular tube frame, not c channel, Chain hook brackets work but kind of funky, going to get some 3/8" self tappers and attach through the provided holes. Tension screw doesn't really work that good on tube frame, wants to walk around, more for c-channel frame. going to replace that with a shorter version. Really just to hold things in position until chain connected anyway. After assembly, drove 620 miles freeway and highway, really noticed the difference so well worth the money and effort. Only thing I really don't like is the chain hooks, when trying to tension chain slips off unless choosing link that allows hook to start about 1/2 way up so really can't get as many links hooked as I would like. Instructions say to lift hitch, hook chains, and then lower but last trailer could just grab at the bottom of the swing with cheater bar and crank them up.Better have a really big wrench set to install. Beefy hardware. My 1/2" rattle gun was not up to the job, needed my 3/4" drive stuff. 2-5/16" Ball came pre-torqued.
