These are a bit on the bulky side, but cutting 1/4" aircraft (7,000lb tensile) is smooth as butter.Reminder, when cutting bare cable, wrap some electrical tape around your cut point. This will make fora smoother and less frayed cut.

We install elevators and these cut the 3/8 ropes with ease. Way better than a grinder or sawzall. I like that they are safe and fast.

I had a bunch of 1/4" galvanized Guy wire to cut. It worked great, just snipped the wire right off. Very little effort. They are really over kill for 1/4", but now I'm looking forward to working with some 3/8" to give them a real go.

The cutter works well, makes a clean cut every time and does not require much force due to the huge handles. The only two problems are 1) it’s very heavy and 2) the blades are thick so you cannot make a close cut which you may or may not need depending on your project.

I ordered this because I had a project that involved 3/8" galvanized airplane cable. I found my 18" bolt cutters would not work to cut the cable. To cut the cable required a set of *bypass* cutters, which is what this product provided. This cut the 3/8" cable. It took some effort to cut the cable -- I had to put one handle on the ground, and lean my body weight into it -- but cut the cable it did. My project is complete.
