These are high end clamps, don't let the price fool you, they are high end. Similar clamps from other retailers are double the price and these are fantastic, I use these daily.

These are short legged squares, which I kind-of needed… but I got off on the wrong foot with these. After using them last night and again this afternoon, I think they’re fine… and attractively priced (legs are on the short side though). The clamps slot nicely into the triangular webbing. The clamps are OK. The new environmentally friendly gold zinc coated for corrosion resistance, inserted Bakelite knobs… comfortable. Square enough. Deburred even! I’ll probably use these.Squares are extrusions and squareish, but at well under 4” on the inside it doesn’t matter that much. I suspect a pretty rough & tumble mfg process as these look like they have been blasted to a rough finish before painting… so not anodized, and not smooth like you’re probably used to seeing with aluminum extrusions. Maybe that’s the new style.Cheap, cheerful, and black as coal. I must admit that I got these just to see if they were as bad as the pictures… Nope, these are OK.

I was pretty excited when I placed my order for these Clear Style's 90% clamps. I am a sporadic woodworker so I don't need corner clamps all the time, but when I do it seems like I don't have enough for the job at hand, or the type that I have are too small, or they are hard to use. This set seemed like they would be easy to use and versatile. Plus there was enough hardware in the package for FOUR complete sets (one bracket, two "L" nuts, two knobs, and two clamps for each set). Other sets I've seen on Amazon only come in packages of two. I would think that at least 4 would be more useful. The problem is that these are simply very awkward to use. Competing brands have holes drilled in the brackets to hold the "L" nuts in place while you tighten down on the knobs, thus clamping down on the wood you are trying to secure while glue dries, etc. The Clear Style model clamps, however, don't have these holes. So everything is loose and shifts around quite a bit until you can finally tighten down and all the knobs. Imagine holding two mating pieces of wood while you try to accurately position the clamp's brackets while you try to hold the L-nuts in place while you try to tighten down the knobs to get a good strong clamping action. You almost need another hand or two to accomplish this juggling act. It's too bad, actually, as the parts themselves look well-made and like they will last a long time. I'll probably still use these clamps at times when I need just "one or two" more clamps to hold an assembly together. But they definitely won't be my first line of defense. I'm sorry, but I can't recommend these.

I have a few different angle clamps and find that they all work to a point. The Clear Style's 90 degree clearly works the best. It is easy to use and as shown in the photos, clamps tightly and evenly. There is a limit on the framing material width, but is is more than enough for any framing job that I do. It's nice to have the four corners securely pressed together for the clueing. The is a good quality product that I recommend.

3 of the 4 are perfect at 90 degrees. Now I'm fighting to try to return the set with Amazon since I can't get a proper replacement.
