Very well made, very heavy to stabilize our umbrella.

I ordered this (44 lbs) to help keep the sun off me when working in the garden, and I think it will do a nice job. It is heavy and solid, and it looks well-made. It was easy to assemble, but I recommend using a glove to protect your hand if trying to use the included wrench for tightening the bolt - the wrench has sharp edges.I have a 6' umbrella with a 1 3/8" pole. It fits well with all the inserts in place in the shaft and the screws hold it snugly. It stays stable while I put the umbrella up and take it down, and has not tipped over in lesser winds so far (I only open the umbrella when I will be using it, and I don't work in the garden in higher winds). It has rained on it several times and it seems to be well designed for it, as no water remains standing on or in it afterward. The plastic seems like it will weather well - the only thing I am concerned about is how long the inserts will last in the sun, as I have to leave it outside. I will come back with an edit if that is ever a problem.

This is a great umbrella base! At 44lbs, this arrived well-packaged and pretty much ready to go. Included are various sizes pole adapters, which is great. The plastic that the base is made of is impressively thick, so I expect it to hold up well. It makes all those 20lb bases from the big box stores look pointless and obsolete. I've been completely impressed with it's sturdiness and performance, and I really appreciate that the pole holder pipe is just as sturdy as the base. I like it! It's attractive, to boot. Sleek, modern lines carved into a heavy-set square. You won't regret this purchase for your lightweight umbrellas.

I like that this umbrella base is solid and heavy. In theory, it should work great for a 8-10' umbrella. I like that it uses two knobs to tighten the umbrella pole into the slot, and that it includes multiple sizing spacers to fit thinner or thicker umbrella poles. But, while the base is heavy, the casing is a fairly average plastic; so, you end up with a plastic base with an aluminum mounting pole and a steel bolt to attach the mounting pole to the base. You have to tighten the bolt enough that the mounting pole won't wobble, but you can't tighten it so much that it cracks the plastic base. While my 9' umbrella was easy to fit into the mounting pole and tighten, and the base is stable, I'm not sure how well the mounting pole will hold up, as it definitely feels like the weakest point of this is the connection between the mounting pole and the base - either the pole will eventually deform and crack, or the bolt will crack the plastic base due to the weight and pressure from the attached umbrella. Now, this is all conjecture based on my impressions of the quality of the base. In theory, it should work well, but I will have to revisit it after a hot desert summer to see how well it holds up.
