Although the picture seemed to exactly match my needs, and it seemed to be the only one that matched, the actual product is not secure on the gas tank, it rattles around and, with the vibrations of the running motor, it gets even looser and the gas comes out. I'm currently holding the cap on with elastic bands but they get hot and break and need constant replacement. What a joke. The most frustrating part is probably the price, like $28 for a little piece of molded plastic that isn't even a fit.

I had purchased this to replace the fuel cap on my 500e model mower. It fits too lose without some kind of thin gasket.My issue wasn’t with the quality of the product, but rather the fit for my application. If you buy this for a 500e application. Be prepared to have to modify it to work.

The cap was the same part #, but was to small. Maybe the wrong cap was packed with lawn mower from the factory.

I've had my Briggs and Stratton mower for a few years now when I accidentally broke the tether to the gas cap. I put the cap back on with out the tether, but the cap kept jiggling loose and falling off while I was mowing (I guess the tether is more important than I thought). I bought this replacement gas cap and it fits my mower perfectly and it stays in place when used correctly.

The Briggs & Stratton gas cap does not fit my mower's Briggs & Stratton engine. It is so loose it rattles off in a few seconds, and I have to use folded paper towels to get it snug.Almost as bad as having no cap at all.

Whoever designed this cap and tank receptor is a blithering idiot. New or old they will not stay put. Gas is constantly leaking from the tank. Ran over the last one with the mower.
