My funky Harmon Kardon 2.1 set (two speakers + subwoofer) started going wonky. I wanted to replace them with a simple set of speakers without having to lug the subwoofer around when I move. However, I'd become accustomed to a certain level of sound quality that I didn't want to give up too much.I have no problem with the price of this Bose set, given the quality of the product. The quality of the output is easily on par with my old ones, and I simply don't need to level of bass a subwoofer provides anymore, so these are just perfect. They're simple, no crazy features, just a volume knob and a headphone jack. Everything you need if all you want a solid pair of desk speakers that won't make you want to gouge your ears when listening to Spotify.

These are made by Bose so I hoped but I wasn't expecting too much. This is one of those cases where the product exceeded my expectations. It's not a $250 system with a sub and surround speakers but for the money they are well built, plain / unobtrusive in a good way, and sound great. Turning them up to 3/4 give a fairly loud room filling sound. Past 3/4 the sound quality starts to suffer a bit. 1/4 is great for most PC tasks. They have good bass and really clear mids and highs. One of the coolest things I noticed is their ability to make the sound feel like it is coming from all directions. Sitting close (at the desk) with the speakers placed as far apart as the cord lets you, it gives the listener (playing music) the illusion that there is a center speaker coming right out of the monitor. I was impressed enough to write this. Cheers!

Reasons To Buy+ Bose, while not the best brand, is a "safe" brand for people who can't be bothered to do any research or sound testing. In my experience, Bose stuff sounds fine. No doubt that you can get better for your money, but if you're feeling intellectually lazy, and you're not an audio snob, you'll probably be fine with a Bose speaker.+ They sound perfectly fine (for computer speakers) to my non-audiophile ears.+ Attractive design+ Well made+ Easy to set up and use+ You can have two audio sources connected at the same time. For me, this is a big deal, as I have my work computer and personal computer running into them at the same time. I don't need to worry about switching them or using a mixer.Hit or Miss* No power LED (I prefer it this way, you might not)Reasons Not To Buy- The proprietary cable connecting the left and right speakers is very short. Apparently, you can contact support and get an extension for free or a small fee, but your mileage may vary. It would have been nice if Bose just used RCA plugs or some other standard connector instead of that proprietary plug.- You can get speakers that sound noticeably better for significantly less... Provided you're willing to do about a half hour or so of googling and research.- Not audiophile quality- No subwoofer- No bluetoothGood Value?I got them on sale around Canadian Thanksgiving for $119 ($60 off), so for me, it was a great deal, especially because I have the specific use case of wanting two inputs. Bose is a polarizing brand in the audio space, so your mileage will definitely vary.

Last week, when I was looking to buy a new set of speakers as the pair I had (after 7 years) finally broke, I searched extensively for the best pair of speakers sub $100. I was also a strong believer on the fact that my new pair had to also be 2.1 not 2.0 because a sub-woofer makes a huge difference. Reluctantly, I purchased these speakers as nothing appealed to me and when I heard via Reddit you could add a sub-woofer to this 2.0 setup, I thought, I might as well give it a try because Bose does have a highly regarded name. I even recall smirking at this corny line, "Sit down at your computer or laptop and get ready to hear sound that seems to extend far beyond the actual speakers," on the amazon page because at the time I thought they were only just a pair of speakers and how could a pair be so much better than the rest when the fundamental technology hasn't really changed in decades (you would think someone else would have figured it out by now, right?).Wow, how wrong I was. The best way to describe these speakers is as if you had a row of four or five speakers on your left and right. It is unbelievable how much depth and clarity these speakers provide. I feel as if I can hear ever instrument in a song, including the difference between two of the same instruments playing in harmony. There is a bit of a double edged sword with these speakers worth noting. They make the best songs sound better but they also make the worst songs sound worse (you will notice every flaw). Ultimately, I am now a huge fan of these speakers and Bose and I am still a bit shell shocked that they made this much of a difference. From now on, it is Bose or nothing (a bit of exaggeration, if I had nothing I probably would use headphones).

These speakers produce a nice clean sound and they have good sound projection for their size. I don't need bass for my setup since I mostly use my computer for work and occasionally for gaming / videos, so the compact size and cost-performance ratio of these speakers were just right for me.I can imagine that people would find these speakers lacking if they listen to a lot of bass-heavy music such as hip-hop. If you want bass, you'd definitely want to buy a separate subwoofer or go for the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System.

AppleTV connection to speaker OK But because Spotify not available on Apple, need to connect to Mac Book. this necessitates unplugging one cable and installing another. A switch would be a good idea. Then A socket for newer iPhones would help because an additional small converter before usable. (The other type was discontinues a few phone models ago. Also Your SoundLink sound is inferior to lots of less expensive units, and your speakers sound is underwhelming in sound.

I purchased these speakers nearly two years ago, and I am still happy with my purchase. The sound quality is good from high tones to bass, despite the small size on my desk.
