It's pretty clever idea, but takes a while to really get going.

I had originally ordered a kit with various sized bits to drill some mounting holes onto granite rock face to install a Ring Doorbell camera for a neighbor. But he ruined the 3/16 bits by using them with improper technique. Ordered this unit to finish the job. These bits offer the best performance using slow drilling speeds, with low torque. Best to let the diamond do the cutting. You only need to apply enough pressure to ensure the bit maintains contact with the material. The was will help keep the bit cool with this technique. Too fast, and/or too much torque or pressure, and the friction will heat up the bit and melt the wax. Not ideal, as wax is a pain to clean. I've this type of bits successfully to drill holes in glass jars to install a spigot, without needing water cooling. Otherwise, these are well made bit that can last a while if using proper technique. The depth marking takes a little used to. Because they are in millimeters. But the diamond tips have the same length, and the depth marking are consistently across the kit. The 1/4" hex bit insure a smooth lock on to the drill chuck. The included storage case is well made, and doesn't take up too much room in the tool box.

These are great for those occasional projects requiring pilot holes in cement or ceramic.Sure, not the very highest quality, and probably not for commercial/industrial use, but worked fine for my small pilot hole needs...and may not need again for years.Great for DIYers, or just to have handy in the toolbox.

When drilling through porcelain, a bit wears out in short order. If you accept that, you can buy inexpensive bits like these or expensive bits from the big box store. Both wear out exactly the same so it makes sense to buy bits like these and discard them once they are worn.
