I didn’t expect how good these would be despite being repeatedly told that by reviewers. My previous experiences with AT headphones has been underwhelming and these don’t align—they’re simply sublime. They have a seemingly magical ability to pull sounds from where there were none, and defy your expectations of what a smallish portable headphone is capable of. The cable connectors are a little fiddly but lock in well—time will tell if they have durability as the proprietary cable is pricey to replace, but that’s for down the road. The only knock against them is use of just slightly cheap feeling plastic in some spots and the worthless bag. You’ll want to get something sturdy to protect your sizable investment. Personally I’ll never get rid of them—they’re the end of my search for closed portable headphones.

I upgraded to these from the MSR7NC's and I'm not disappointed at all. I look for female vocals and overall clarity of sound in headphones the most. As an audiophile it's satisfying to hear instruments and other sounds in the most accurate and clear production possible and these are excellent at it. These render instruments in a precise, realistic way and it's really satisfying to hear any kind of instruments with these headphones. I've never heard instruments be this accurate before from a pair of headphones, these just excel at it. They are also a slightly V-Shaped headphone but the key is slightly, not fully. Their vocals sound awesome, especially female vocals. The vocals and the overall sound is bright and sparkly while not being exhausting at the same time. The MSR7's were too bright in my experience, the brightness was enjoyable but it would also get tiring. The WP900's have a perfect balance of being bright enough to bring out vocals and have a fun, sparkly sound while at the same time not being tiring for your ears. I can listen to any already bright songs on these for as long as I want, while on the MSR7NC's I would get tired after only 30-60 minutes of listening to bright songs. Even though these are slightly V-Shaped, the vocals on these are actually amazing and sound better than my MSR7 cans, which are known to be really bright with vocals. The vocals are just more clearer and more natural sounding, and they still get brought out especially when it's anything with female voices. The sound overall is perfectly clear and I'm hearing sounds/instruments I've never heard of in the same songs before. They bring out every single detail a song and render the song exactly how the artist intended it, without overdoing anything. The MSR7's were not too neutral as they were overly bright, and these are definitely more neutral sounding. The WP900 also has the minimal bass you need for music such as hip-hop. The bass in these is solid and comes out as natural when needed, but it's not overdone like on many other headphones. These don't have thumpy bass like so many other headphones so if you're looking for headphones that will thump your heart with bass these are not for you. However, their bass is still there and more than enough for people who aren't bass-heads. There's also a good sound isolation and these also block outside sound well without having anything weird like ANC in them.Overall the sound is awesome for anything, but it is especially awesome for anime, feminine songs and movies. And even more for a feminine anime voice/vocal.The soundstage is the best I've heard in a closed-back. These also excel at it and there's great instrument separation. If you're coming to these from an open-back, you probably won't be dissapointed in how good the soundstage is.The sound signature is a fun, unique one. These will sound really weird at first and hard to listen to, but that's because the sound signature of these is not like other headphones. These have a special sound render that can make any song more fun to listen to while sounding accurate and clear. You just have to burn into them. It's real and the more audiophile a headphone is the more weird they sound at first. These have the same specs as other high-end/expensive audophile level headphones and there's a lot going into your ears, even though you can't process all of those frequencies. They sounded really weird to me at first and I even thought of returning them when having them for the first few days, but after about 2 weeks of using them I was getting used to their sound and that's when I realized I made the right choice to not return them. I was having an orgasm to my ears with how great these sounded to me, after I was starting to get used to their sound signature. As more time passed by, I was enjoying them more and these headphones have got me to listen to music all day. Now after having them for 30 days, these are like an eargasm to me everytime I put them on. When you get these, they'll sound strange at first but just let yourself and your ears burn into them before judging them. Amazon gives you 30 day returns, so you have plenty of time to get used to their sound and determine if you will enjoy them. Just give it a try for at least three weeks and trust me, you'll be happy.I recommend using a DAC with these, they do not need much power so there's no need for any AMPs and you can easily use these with any smartphone or any device in general. I still recommend a DAC with these just to get the best out of their amazing sound. You don't need to use the balanced wire that comes with them, but using a DAC to render audio will help you get the best of any audiophile headphones in general, not just these.Anyways enough about the sound. The sound is excellent, but that's not the only advantage you're paying for. The wood on these headphones just gives a feeling I cannot forget. It looks beautiful, it feels premium and makes you feel like a classic person. Once you feel the wood in person you can just never go back. Wearing these outside will bring you attention from people and it will put a good impression because these just look so great and appealing. You not only get amazing sound with these, but you also get amazing looks and feel while wearing these classy cans. The wood and design overall is what makes it unique and more on the old fashioned side. These are also fully comfortable. They are light like a feather and you will forget you're wearing headphones often. Their earpads are comfy and will not create any pressure on your ears no matter how long you wear these for. Even the MSR7 cans, which have thicker earpads than these can hurt my ears but these never do.The only downsides of these I can think of is the wires they give are a little short and the padding on top is thin, but those are just minor and not much compared to the positives about the WP900.I highly recommend getting these if you want sexy audiophile headphones that have fantastic sound and are also fully portable at the same time. These are probably the best portable headphones you can get, because they push the limits with how good they sound, while being portable and working anywhere with any device, and having no requirement for external power.

It doesn’t press as tight as I would like on my head to get a better bass response. Like the sound sig but unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to fully experience the greatness of this headphone.

Uses their propriety A2D2 connections for the headphone cable. If you ever need a replacement, they charge a fortune for a replacement cable.

Beautiful to look at, light and comfortable. The Sound is Very v-shaped, with the mids scooped out. I hear that they are good for EDM and hip-hop. If vocals are your thing, you might want to keep looking.

The sound signature is bright and sparkly. Decent bass nothing that will of course blow you out of the water. These are nice portable headphones that really pushes the envelope of what you can expect in the portable category. I really like them. The design is beautiful. The wood is what really stands out and I can see that these headphones are getting into a fashion statement than just performance/audio.Headphones are comfortable and lightweight. The diamond/carbon coated drivers are extremely similar to my AP-2000TI which is a 1200$ headphone! In fact since these came months after the release of the ap-2000Ti I'd say its even better than the AP-2000TI! Its much more lighter and comfortable for long term despite them both being portable headphones. I wish the pricing was maybe cheaper into the 500$ category but you are really paying for that imported Japanese quality like a Toyota tacoma or something. The sound signature albeit great and bright is much less fatiguing comparatively for long term for sure. It really brings forward that female anime protagonist weab noise that most other headphones don't handle that well. Which means that for other headphones would be even more fatiguing. This is exceptional in that regard. Im talking being on the edge of having sibalance. Its amazing and perfectly tuned for portable use. I'd even argue that in many songs and many cases that these headphones are better than my HD-58X jubilees, and DT 880s (600 ohm).

Pros: well-made headphones that are both solid and comfortable to wear.I'm not so sure if "it's the wood that makes it good" or if the thin piece of maple is merely for cosmesis. However, the sound reveals good musical detail and tonal balance.Nice mid-bass weight but a bit thin on the sub-bass. Beware that these need a high-quality DAC. I was fairly disappointed using a rather cheap one I had on-hand, but with upgrade to the new Astell & Kern, I felt that I was finally able to unlock the quality of the headphones.Cons: Although I am consistently engaged, at times I feel the emotional gap acutely when comparing the experience of listening to some of my favorite tracks on these to when I hear the same pieces through my Tannoys. I thought these would be a huge leap forward compared to listening with my old Bose QC35, but I would say these are only incrementally more impactful. I probably expected too much.More important, this is my first A-T headphone purchase, and I didn't appreciate how atypical the cable connections are and how hard it is to find alternatives to the OEM version. Had I known my upgrade options were so limited, I may have turned to another manufacturer.
