To The Point:This nail dust collector works fine, but itâs better suited for a workbench than a makeup table, which caused quite the unexpected reaction. My Opinion:I thought I hit a home run with this as a Christmas gift for my wifeâshe does her nails often, so I figured the BLUETOP Nail Dust Collector would be the perfect solution to keep dust from piling up. Turns out, I miscalculated. My wife took one look at it and decided it was far too industrial and better suited for my workbench instead. To be fair, the vacuum itself seems to work as advertised. It has decent suction, is relatively quiet, and would probably be a good tool for someone who frequently does acrylic or gel nails professionally. But as something for a makeup table or casual home use? The design just doesnât fit. Itâs bulky, lacks any aesthetic appeal, and looks more like it belongs in a shop than anywhere near cosmetics. After some gentle back-and-forth (and some side-eye from my wife), I realized itâs better suited for sawdust than nail dust. The irony wasnât lost on either of us when she asked when Iâd be making her the makeup table it was supposedly perfect for. Lesson learnedâdonât overthink gifts! My Verdict:While functional, this is more âgarage chicâ than beauty salon. Buy it if youâre looking for a practical dust collector, but skip it as a thoughtful gift for a makeup enthusiast.I hope this helps!Cheers,Straight Shooter

I do work on my desktop that generates lots of fine dust. I ordered this fan unit with the hopes that I could do the work and catch any of the dust generated.I like that the fan unit has a standard plug, and so it doesnât need to be specially wired in to operate. It also has a separate power switch in the power cable, plus a fuse for if it gets overloaded. I would have liked to have a variable speed, but thatâs all that comes with it. It does have a couple bags that attach to the back of it, but they attach in an odd way - they have elastic that holds it on. Good for easily putting it on, but I can see it coming off easily by accident when itâs underneath. As for the power, it seems to have a decent amount of power to pull dust that is near the surface. The problem, as noted by others, is that the airflow at the surface tends to blow as much dust around as it does taking it in. Perhaps itâs the way the bag is on the back? Iâm not sure, but itâs not an ideal setup.

I ordered this to help contain some of the plastic dust I generate when I'm filing, sawing, or sanding plastic models on my hobby table. I will say that while the fan does move a lot of air, it doesn't really pull a whole lot in, and I'm very glad that I didn't commit to installing it into my hobby table before testing it out. Before getting into the details about the effectiveness of the device itself, I think it's important to draw attention to where the collector is going to be seated into your workspace. If you're like me and want it closer to the edge of the table that you're seated at, then the vacuum bag is going to be bumping into your knees whenever you work. They're only attached to the device itself by the tension from the elastic around the rim of the bag, and while it's reasonably snug, it still feels loose enough that I can see it getting knocked off while I'm focused on something else and spilling its contents all over the floor. Maybe it'd do better at a standing workstation, or one with an enclosed base, but certainly not at my table. And then we get to the same complaints that everyone else seems to be having. With fine plastic dust generated from sanding, the fan tends to blow just as much dust back up as it pulls down, making it much more difficult to avoid breathing it in. What dust it does pull down is often pushed through the lining of the bag. Some of the larger particles generated from coarser files does get trapped down there, but not enough to justify the addition of a massive hole in my work surface. I think the bag is the root of the problem here, as the air being forced into it can't escape fast enough to make way for the fresher air being forced in behind it, and with nowhere else to go it just comes back up. You could remove the bag, but then you'd just be blowing the dust directly at the floor. If you've got some kind of niche application where you want to keep dust away from your face while working outside, it might work, but the rest of us seem to be out of luck here.In the long term, I think I may just stick a funnel on the back of this thing with some silicone and attach it to a shop vac to get some actual one-way suction going, but as a standalone product it just doesn't do what it needs to. Maybe it'd be a handy mounting point for a dedicated extraction system in a workshop, but that's the best I can say for it, and at the price it's going for I'm pretty sure there would be a cheaper option for that anyway.

The Buetop Nail Dust Collector did not do a great job on its own.The vacuum worked well to pull down the dust but the collection system did not work. The fine dust seemed to leak from the bag.I corrected this by building a frame/box under the table around the vacuum. The frame/box had grooves to add additional dust filters. I used furnace filters that slide in on the sides.I also put a âUâ shaped cover directly over the fan limiting the travel of dust particles. This combination worked well to control dust.

I got this to help collect dust when I am doing fine sanding on my models. I made an insert onto my table top to fit the fan and so far the results arenât overwhelmingly good. For it to work at all you need to be essentially right on top of it and even then the results could be better. Sound wise it doesnât seem too loud, but the performance is lacking overall.

This product worked better for me as a fan than a dust collector. When I first used it as a dust collector it did blow more stuff around than I expected. I had expected it to be like a table top vacuum and just suck all the dust in. I did repurpose it as a fan, it works good for that and has been working for months

This nail dust collector fan pulls in air pretty well and comes with two dust collection bags. I'm not sure where you're meant to get replacement bags, since I'm not sure just attaching a plastic shopping bag with a rubber band or something would have enough ventilation to work. The flat fan can be connected to a table with a hole drilled in it, or if you're crafty, putting together a box to sit on top of a work surface might be an easier solution. The switch to turn it off and on is a dial, which allows you to somewhat control the speed, but I found it very awkward to turn on and off, and that'd go doubly so when it was hidden under a table. It's also fairly noisy - not super loud, but not what I would define as "low noise". I was having a hard time talking with my husband over it.Overall, it does the job but isn't the best solution, I think.

It's way too expensive to get my nails done at a salon all the time so I do my own nails at home. This says it's for professional or home use, but it definitely needs to sit on something to be used. I did as the other person suggested and used the box it came in to prop it up and it worked perfectly. It's a very heavy device though. Comes with the 2 dust bags as described. Pretty simple to use as all you need to do is plug it in and rotate the power button on. I did find that at the highest fan speed it would end up blowing the dust away as opposed to sucking it into the bag although it's possible that I'm doing something wrong. At the mid fan speed it worked a lot better for me. Also a bit loud at the higher speeds although I don't have anything to compare it to.
