Using this latch for some custom fabrication, the latch will stay hidden and remain flush, roughly 1” overall width, will mount onto just about a 1/4” thick material and then the pin is good for over 1” thick and easily cut with a hacksaw blade

The whole mechanism inside the button falls off after a week because the back end is simply a plast piece screwed into the front part and unscrew by itself and the spring and retainer for the stud to hold in falls off. I dont do crazy things i jusy daily drive my miata. I used the 4 from the package and i needed to buy a second pack because they all broke. But otherwise works smoothly. Its sad that it unscrews by itself with time. I really liked those.

I have purchased this item 3 times for 3 different vehicle bumpers. I had no problems with the first two orders. However, I was missing a critical component on the 3rd purchase. No big deal as Amazon Prime has free returns. *NOTE: When using this component on car bumpers: You might want to use Loctite between the metal pin and the insert it attaches to. This would obviously void your warranty and you can forget ever being able to use the quick release button, but at least you won't have to worry about it constantly coming disconnected or even falling off during driving.... Especially, at high speeds. Don't think Loctite is necessary? Then don't use it and find out for yourself... That's my two cents
