I am extremely fortunate to be able to review this valve as my 10-year-old Moen cartridge cratered on me and the new one is on the way via a slow boat. Turns out, the 1222 cartridge in this valve is a perfect match for my original. I only have a shower, so I wasn’t able to use the brass housing, but is identical to my 3 way valve.When I extracted the cartridge, I was pleased to find that it had a fine sheen of plumber’s grease on it, showing that the manufacturer is providing a legitimate replacement for a Moen part. I was able to install the cartridge into my existing brass housing and everything is working seamlessly and is leak-free.Moen has some excellent how-to videos on their website for installing the cartridge. Whether replacing the cartridge or installing this whole valve, it is important to have the flattened side of the cartridge supply facing up. Before securing the shower handle, turn the water supply back on and test it. If the flow doesn’t seem right or the off position isn’t where it’s supposed to be, take the handle off and rotate the cartridge supply 180 degrees to the other flat spot before reinstalling the handle.Now the whole house is happy to have showers again, and I’m impressed by the quality of this manufacturer. Add to this, the valve assembly is up to half the price of just the cartridge from Moen, and this item becomes an excellent aftermarket alternative.

Very good quality brass shower valve. Does a great job of maintaining pressure balance between hot and cold lines. Love that it uses a Moen 1222 cartridge so you can find replacements anywhere.Build quality is fantastic. Looks like it will last a very long time
