The bits were constantly falling out of my Dewalt driver. I googled the cause and determined that it was likely the spring broke and possibly the metal ball bearing. Boyght this item which came with more parts than I needed. I managed to disassemble the drivers bit holder and indeed found the spring was partially broken off preventing the ball bearing from pushing against the inserted bit and locking it into place. I replaced the affected parts and put it back together. Warning you need to have some patience when you put it back together (disassembly is easier than reassembly). Got it done after quite a few tries and everything is working as before. Extremely satisfying to fix the drivers bit holder and not have to go to a service centre.

I’ve got an old dewalt 887 impact and it’s actually my favorite drill even more so than my newer model. But the bit started falling out so I ordered this kit. It was a pain in the ass to change the spring that had broken inside the chuck but I did manage to get it replaced with the new one. I worked for about a week or two and then the same thing happened. So I took it apart again and put the second spring in to keep the ball bearing up and lock the bit in plane. This one lasted a similar amount of time until again my bit was falling out. I just took it apart for the throw time and the spring isn’t broken it just doesn’t seem to have a sufficient amount of tension to keep the ball bearing in the right place. I even changed to a new ball bearing but that didn’t seem to solve the issue either. Frustrating at best because it’s a total pain in the ass to get the retaining clip back on the drill when you put it back together.

There was suppose to be 2 sets but only received 1, Installed and worked ok picture is what is left over from old parts. Would be nice to have second set as a spare. Took along time to get as well
