I was looking to put two different toslink signals into a single DAC input. Not at the same time of course. This accomplished what I wanted. Either the TV or the CD player now plays through the same input.

This device didn’t work. It only transferred sound if a single source was connected to the “splitter”. If 2 devices were plugged in, no sound at all was transferred to the speaker - even if one of the 2 source units was turned off.

The heading on the product says "2 in 1 out". The description says the reverse (1 in 2 out). The "2 in 1 out" works. It may work either way as well (?). If you transmit into both inputs at the same time you get no sound from either transmission source. Better instructions would be a help. I had a lot of quirky results when I first hooked this up, but it may due to the low quality digital cable I used. Suggestion: Don't buy the cheapest cables, etc. Their plugs fit poorly, and manufacturing defects abound. The result is, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. This make diagnosing problems very frustrating.

I didn't need it after all. But it did work. I used my headphone output instead of my input.
