This review is for the ATsafepro 1/2" Digital Torque Adapter. This unit will convert any 1/2" drive ratchet into a digital torque wrench. The torque adapter comes in a sturdy little plastic case with a secure latch. It has enough room for the unit itself as well as the included 1/2" to 3/8" and a 1/2" to 1/4" adapters for using 3/8" and 1/4" drive sockets. Also included were 2 x AAA batteries and a small allen key to remove the battery compartment lid. A multi-lingual instruction booklet as well as a certificate of calibration was included. Its display is colorful and easy to read. It has a range of 200 Nm and my example showed a precision of 0.30% which is quite amazing. Re-calibration is recommended after 1 year or 5000 uses. The "C" key turns it on and off. It's default mode is track mode (T) which shows you your actual applied torque as it changes and returns to zero when all torque is released. By pushing the P/T button, you can change it to peak mode (P). This mode shows the maximum applied torque in real time but values never reduce as you release torque, but instead shows the maximum torque applied during this session. In track mode, you can set the desired torque and when within 80% you get a green light and a beep. As more torque is applied, it starts beeping and you get a yellow light at 90% of desired value. At 100% and above of desired torque, you get a solid beep and a red light. There are 5 scales including N.m, lb.ft, lb.in, kg.cm, and kg.m. It remembers the last setting used after powering off and back on again. It has memory functions for stored data, but I personally didn't find that useful for my application. It also has memory for 9 frequently used torque values, but again I didn't personally have any use for this feature. I typically use a torque wrench for torquing my tires or spark plugs. A torque wrench becomes much more useful when performing something like an engine rebuild where you want to get everyth8ng torqued proerly. Personally I found the memory features got in the way of just wanting to set a desired torque value. Some might find a dedicated torque wrench to be easier to use than using this add-on, but in the end it gave accurate results, and was more versatile than a standard torque wrench.

I am ashamed to admit that I had no idea this type of thing even existed. Its ability to convert virtually any socket wrench into a precision tool makes this immensely useful. As a DIY homeowner, I do not have regualr need of a torque wrench, so the ones I do already have are not digital, and not name brand. This unit makes it extremely easy to torque any nut of bolt to spec using tools you already have.My only concern will be that when I go to use this, the batteries will be dead. It seems to have an auto shutoff feature. and given that in my experience these types of items rarely include top shelf quality batteries, I feel like its a legitimate worry. I am looking into name brand lithium batteres to replace what came with it to hopefully combat this issue. In terms of accuracy, I lack extremely precise means of independently testing this, but when I compared the torque settings I have of my small 1/4 drive analog torque wrench, I set both wrenches to 30 Ft-LBS and torqued a bolt down with my analog wrench, and then attempted to further tighten the same bolt using this digital adaptor, and it immediately clicked that sufficent force had been applied to achieve 30 ft-lbs which seemed like a winning result of a test, albeit not incredibly precise. For the price, this thing is a great addition to a tool box, and I'm happy to have picked it up. The asking price is reasonable for what you get, and the box it comes in is perfect.

Pretty straight forward and easy to use. It seems pretty accurate, based on tests with a couple torque wrenches. Not sure about the build quality, but it seems fine.I'll probably just keep it around in case I can't find a torque wrench with its own settings or something, but all in all, it does what it's supposed to - can't ask for more than that.

Works great. Comes in a small blow molded case and includes two AAA batteries and the small hex wrench needed to install the batteries. Also includes two adapters for the "output" side to reduce it from 1/2 inch drive to 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch drive. There was a calibration certificate in the box and the provided values were all within 0.5% of spec. The average of five readings were within 0.1% of nominal which is pretty amazing. I checked it against a newer 1/2 inch torque wrench and those readings were also within about 1%, but that difference might be my torque wrench! The screen is color which is nice. The only weird thing is that the "C" button is the on/off.

This torque adapter works well and is very accurate. The LCD screen is bright and easy to read. The buzzer and LED alerts help to prevent over-tightening. It comes with useful adapters for different drive sizes.
